View Full Version : Is Michael Finley the worst Spur of the Tim Duncan era?

Steve Smith comes to mind when I think of a jump shooter we acquired that was cold for seasons at a time. But I think after tonight Michael Finley has pushed it so far that we have to forget about his "good" series against the mavericks. Forget it i said. Michael Finley is absolutely worth-less.

Nope. Nick Van Exel was.

What Finley did in the playoffs last year is enough to keep him off that list.

Why do you think the Mavs let Finley go and continue to pay him to play for the Spurs?

I dunno, but Finley single handedly ground the offense to a halt for 3 or 4 possessions in the 2nd half.

Yup I agree, plus opponents figured out the way to guard him, "NOT GUARD HIM AT ALL!"

I guess you Spurs fans finally figured out why the Mavs let Finley go. Seems like we were hearing a different tune last spring but Finley's abilities have settled back into their normal state....a lame jump shooter virtually incapable of creating his own shot who takes the ball to the hoop 1 out of 100 times he touches the ball.

I wish we could pay a few more guys like him to play for the Spurs.

why do you think we got rid of him. basically cause we were paying 15 milliion for a shitty SG. but he averaged around 15 ppg his last season here. so i have no hard feelings to him.

All part of the master plan....pay Fin to play at the American Airlines Center South....aka San Antone.

This Spurs team need Horry_For_3! on the team. He hardly ever misses a shot. He shoots 89% from 70 feet.

Trade Finley, we went to a championship team to a mediocre one since he came

Hell now, he's your best player... now you understand why dallas fucking cut him ?. Y'all little pussies talked A LOT of shit about us cutting Finley, now you see the reason why he was cut... and you're paying him 2 something million dollars, not 50+ mills like cuban would have been.

Finley = SUCKS, feel bad for ya

Cuban may be paying Finley's salary, but the Spurs are the ones who are the chumps. They bought into the Finley mystique the same way they bought into the NVE hype.

The only time Finley is clutch is when his team is up by at least 20.

No.

As for Mengke Bateer:

Two words: Josh Howard.

The very player the Spurs chose not to draft in 2003. Instead trading out of the round - dumb asses!

You aint gotta tell me. I watched his skills decline and I listened to all the roasting Finley received over the local Dallas talk show radio circuit. He simply no longer justified his Max salary.

Now his play doesn't justify him even taking up a roster spot.

i'm glad people are finally realizing this. this player is garbage and needs to be gotten rid of. problem is, aftet games like this, he has already reveled himself as a has-been and we will not get anything of value in return.

actually this is the last year that cuban stands to "lose" money...throughout the last 4 years, he has only lost money by owning the team. Think Finley, Bradley, Abdul-Wahad, Christie, and like 2 other guys. This is their last year on the payroll Next year though, he plans to actually start gaining money

I don't get it. If keeps trying to have one of the best teams in the L by paying top dollar for players like Dampier, Walker, or whoever is the latest FA he'll continue to incur massive luxury tax. As he actually made a commitment to be more fiscally conservative ala Spurs in the future? Or is he hoping to not make any mistakes on future players contracts?

i feel like mark cuban is well on his way to becoming the george steinbrenner of the nba.
