Game time!

My boys may have backed in to this opportunity, but I think we've got a decent chance. This is probably the best matchup the Chiefs could have asked for.

My fear is that we are so limited in our passing game this year, that the Colt defense will be able to lock up LJ for most of the game. We will need to get Gonzalez and Kennison involved very early. If the Colts force into 3 and outs, we're screwed. We don't don't typically have the ability to comeback.

Dwight Freeny will be all over Green. Tony Gonzalez will have to stay back to pick him up and help keep pressure off our QB .... which also keeps him out of the passing game unfortunately.

Our defense will have to make plays today. Our veteran secondary better step up.

Chiefs 31-27

well at least we've been able to hold them to field goals, but they're moving down the field at will.

The offense is too predictable. All year Chief fans have been bitching about Herms lack of imagination offensively.

Wow! That's four screen passes that the Chiefs have snuffed out for a loss.

The Colts have been conservative as well, but when Peyton has gone downfield he's been successful.

Edit-Ty Law proves me wrong!

True. But who knew that the NFL's worst team against the rush would rise to the occasion, thus far!

How could you tell? The angle sucked and you couldn't tell if the ball hit the ground.

Maybe if they showed another angle, but I digress..

Funny how the Colts were getting ripped for having no running game, and they're running the ball at will this afternoon.

Meanwhile, the Colts run defense is doing the job,

More unpredictability from the NFL.

Great defensive stand by the Colts today. I admit, I expected the defense to step up, but to hold LJ to 32 rushing yards and nearly prove Dungy's comments earlier this week correct, that was amazing.

Granted, the KC offense could not get anything going and the loss is probably more a result of KC's inconsistency this season showing up at the wrong time than the Colts D actually stepping up. But still, I cannot tell you how sick I was of hearing how LJ would rush for over 300 and burn the Colts D the entire game. Baltimore next week will be a real test, but if anything this game showed the Colts D can step up and make stops when needed. Next week, the Colts need to have the better offense. If Peyton plays at the level he is capable of, the Colts will win. But if he throws 3 picks agains the Ravens, it's hello offseason. Should be a great game next week.

Congrats to your team. Ya'll put a whooping on us.

But be careful in reading too much into the defensive performance in regards to the job they did stopping LJ.

Keep in mind LJ only got 13 carries. 99% of those on first and second down when EVERYONE knew he was going to run.

A lower tier college team could have stopped LJ yesterday the way the offense played.

Herm is under extreme fire today from the players (and fans) in his play calling. Quotes from all the players are less than pretty when talking about his offensive schemes and calls. Alot of unhappiness, and dissension among the ranks of Chiefs players since the game.

Good luck with them Ravens next week.

by the way,

If any team is looking for a Pro Bowl caliber TE, expect Tony Gonzalez to be available this off season, as It doesn't look like he's going to sign a new deal
because of his dislike for the Edwards offense.

Well, considering we got burned by Ron Dayne in Week 16, I thought holding one of the best backs in the league to under 50 was an accomplishment even though the offense didn't go to him much and was coming up short nearly everywhere else. Honestly, having to hear about how the Colts D was going to get torched all week on TV and across the internet (especially that bitchass Yahoo analyst Chris Carter, who picked the Colts right after Week 17 ended and then flipped two days before the game).

Like I said, the Ravens are going to be a real challenge. Their offense is average but their defense has hard hitters and I expect Manning to be under pressure for mostly all of the game. In the regular season, Manning rarely has two consecutive bad games and in all likelihood, he won't have back to back games with three picks. If the Colts D can deliver a performance like they did Saturday against a team like Baltimore, who won't shoot themselves in the foot the entire game, then I am optimistic for next week. Manning and his receivers have the talent to overcome a strong defensive stand by Baltimore, but it will take Peyton and the WRs being on the same page the entire game. One lapse on offense could end up costing Indy the game.

A friend and I were analyzing the matchup earlier today and we both think the offense vs defense on both teams will balance out if the Colts step up the D, and the game could very well be decided by Special Teams. It's going to be a great game either way, and I'm crossing my fingers that Manning can buck his trend of fading in the postseason.

By the way, are Edwards and Dungy cousins or something. They soooooo look like cousins or hell, even brothers.
