Furthermore, kickers are a funny bunch, they only prefer certain holders once they get comfortable with them. Look at Detmer in Philly, their kicker was only comfortable with him, so much so that they brought him back. Romo is probably the best holder on that team and not to mention, the kicker was probably comfortable with him holding. Plus the fact that he had done it a 100 times this season and you never saw him screw it up once. It's just one of those things that happens from time to time.

I see what you're saying, but I would bet that not many injuries have occurred from being the holder on place kicks. I don't know that for sure, I'm just assuming as I've never seen it happen in the 20 years that I've been watching pro football.

But you're right, it could happen. It was still a freak thing though that 99 times out of 100 it wouldn't have been a problem. Romo just picked the worst possible time of his career to make it a problem.

I am sure next season he won't be the placeholder, and it will probably have nothing to do with this gaffe. I would bet money they thought of that all along and would have adressed it in the off season. Bledsoe won't be back, so whatever hack they get as the backup will likely take those duties next season.
