moral victory?

samikeyp

not at all....they choked away a playoff game.

but its better to get to the playoffs and lose than not to get in at all.

is there really a difference between not making the playoffs and losing the wildcard?

yall got an extra week to take an exit..... congratulations.....

yes, there is. so you agree with that bronco fan last week now? i think it was slinkyman who said - "better to back out of the playoffs than to back in"

samikeyp

There is a big difference.

You can honestly tell me that you would rather be 7-9 and miss the playoffs than 9-7 and make them?

An extra week of playing is what matters. I guarantee you Mike Nolan would trade places with any one of the 12 teams who made it.

Fillmoe
01-07-2007, 12:55 AM
i guarantee you 2 teams that mike nolan aint trading places with right about now.... and one of them is the cowboys.....

niners will make the playoffs next year... you can count on that....

samikeyp
01-07-2007, 12:58 AM
You really think Mike Nolan would rather be out of the playoffs than in them even if he got knocked out in the first round.

Next year, very possible. I think the Niners, with a little improvement, will make the playoffs and could challenge for the division. Key word though is Next. This year is still going on. Any team or player or fan worth a shit wants his or her team to win the championship...to do that you have to first qualify for the post season, you can't have one without the other.

Oh...I noticed how you were afraid to answer my question.

Coward.

Fillmoe
01-07-2007, 01:00 AM
did either team win the superbowl? no.... end of conversation.....

Key word NEXT.... and it looks like both of our teams are thinking towards it already.....

samikeyp
01-07-2007, 01:01 AM
I agree...both teams are thinking about the draft.

But you still haven't answered my question.

Niners choked when they needed to win too, you are acting like you have a lot of room to talk. Cowboys had a very legit shot to win that game.

Actually, I saw a lot of talent on that team, I didn't expect them to suck, but I didn't think it would be too unlikely if Alex Smith finally did something and brought the team over the hump.

leemajors

fillmoe, this is quite possibly your weakest take yet - something along the lines of the niners beat the seahawks twice and you couldn't would have been much better. keep that rather be 7-9 than make the playoffs with a first round exit in mind for next year.

something like that, what's the point of going to the playoffs if you're not even going to win one game? I guess when you haven't won a playoff game in 11 years just making it to the playoffs is good enough.

I guess I am just old school. It used to be that the goal was to make the post-season so you had a shot at a ring. Guess others care more about money and such. I stick with my original opinion. I would rather make the playoffs and lose than not go at all. Do winning records still matter, or just to me?

what are you talking about "other care more about money and such"? How did i make money off the broncos missing the playoffs? Anyway, I want the broncos in the playoffs but i wouldn't feel we deserved it if we made it by default because the rest of the league was such garbage that an average team can get in. If you can't beat SF at home knowing that you're in the playoffs then you don't deserve it and i wouldn't want to back my way in.

nothing matters cept a ring....... looks like someone forgot to tell you that....... ask all these hall of fame qbs and rbs with no ring that put up all kinds of crazy numbers...... they will all tell you that they would trade their numbers for a ring anyday..... i thought that was common knowledge..... aint no moral victories in sports....

That is my point. Which is why I said this...

. It used to be that the goal was to make the post-season so you had a shot at a ring.

I agree totally...the ring is all that matters and should be the only thing that matters. Too many players are hung up on endorsements and personal highlights and don't care about team success (Yes, T.O.,I am speaking to you).

Now you are just lying to back up your point. Nowhere did I say the ring wasn't important nor did I say stats were more important. (Show me where I did) But to get to that ring, you need to qualify for the post-season. That's why, to me, making the playoffs is important. Again...a personal opinion to which I am entitled.

not to mention every player on the broncs and niners would totally disagree with their fans weak takes.

I do see Slinky's point though. If you knew 100% you were going to just go out in the first round before you played...take the draft pick. But if you don't know for sure...hopefully you get the chance to try and find out.
