Austin Acquires Loren Woods

AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 6, 2007 – The Austin Toros of the NBA Development League have acquired veteran center Loren Woods.

A second round selection (46th overall) in the 2001 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves, Woods (7-2, 260) has played in 208 career NBA games over five seasons with the Timberwolves, Miami Heat and Toronto Raptors. He has averaged 11.6 minutes, 2.6 points and 3.3 rebounds over five NBA seasons. He was signed by the Sacramento Kings on Aug. 15, 2006, but was waived before the season began.

Woods is expected to be in uniform when the Toros visit Colorado on Tuesday. He will wear jersey #32.

Wow, a true center. This might enable Jamar to play more at the three spot.

With this move, I guess it's safe to say the Spurs don't have much pull in the Toro's front office. Signing Duncan's arch enemy wouldn't be high on the Spurs' to do list.

I doubt the Spurs have any imput at all aside from suggestions for James. We're pretty desperate for size. I don't know who else was in the player pool at this point, but this looks pretty for us.

I just want him to rebound, block and play D. Gotta keep the winning streak going. 3-13, baby!

The Spurs should have took a look at the Kings' Jistin Williams
