A healthy Lakers team would give the Mavs so many matchup problems and we have the type of team that could give them a serious run for their money. We are versatile, young, hungry, have long athletic wings to throw at Dirk, a starting frontcourt of Odom/Kwame/Bynum that will give the Mavs all sorts of headaches in the paint, have a better coach, oh yeah and that Kobe guy is always up for playing the Mavs! This is a better team then people give it credit for and teams are making a BIG mistake if they think the Lakers wont be tough to beat in a 7 game series!

wrong. you can hit the hand only if you hit the ball first. thats why in game 1 last year of Mavs vs. Spurs, that block that Bowen had on Dirk at the end of the game was a clean block. he clearly hit his hand, but it was AFTER hitting the ball first. It didnt appear that Smush hit the ball first. and Kobe also CLEARLY slapped him across his arm as well.

The hand is considered "part of the ball" when it is in contact with the ball. Therefore, contact on that hand by a defender while it is in contact with the ball is not illegal.

Nothing about touching the hand before or after the ball.

The Mavs havent even played a healthy Laker team this year either. Odom and Kwame are big pieces to this team and Kobe will force the Mavs to double team him simply because not one player on the Mavs can hold him in check. He has his way with that team and LOVES facing that squad. The experience factor gives the Mavs the deciding edge but the Lakers dont fear them and will give them everything they have IF we meet in a series. We still need to get our guys back but you have got to hand it to Phil for turning this team around dramatically.

I thought things had calmed down and appreciated the decency lately. That's why I started the smack talk thread for fun. But currently (as of last night), I have to have registration restricted on the site because there are Mavs fans trashing the fuck out of the forum. It sucks that ALL the Mavs fans take shit from Spurs fans, but it's because there is a much higher percentage of obnoxious pricks that are Mavs fans than any other team we've dealt with in the last five years. The Mavs have zero doubt they can beat the Spurs in the playoffs and would even prefer to play the Spurs over teams like the Lakers and Suns. I don't know if Mavs fans can recall some of the shitty games the Spurs played in the early part of the seasons of their Championship years. The Spurs always have bad stretches. If after the Rodeo Road trip and the trade deadline, the Spurs are still playing crappy (and I am the first to admit that right now, the Spurs aren't that good) then I will say the Mavs have a big advantage. Right now it's too early for me to write them off. I don't even know who is going to be here after the trade deadline.

Ummm I disagree with all do respect. The the Mavs matchup well against the Spurs 1st of all. The Mavs have the athletic advantage. The Spurs play a slower game where as the Suns run you to death and are tough to defend. Duncan is no where near a Kobe who can take over a game and beat you by himself. Pretty sure the Mavs would rather face the Spurs over the Lakers or Suns...
You're stuttering your words a little. BTW, you do know the Spurs have pwned the Suns ever since they broke out?

You know Mavs and their fans are gettin under Spurs fans collective skins when a thread for MAVS VS. LAKERS IS STARTED IN THE SAN ANTONIO SPURS FORUM. That, and as of this comment, IT'S 8 PAGES LONG.

Don't mind the fact that you want the Mavs to lose...do mind the fact that you act like the bad calls were good calls my friend. Homerism should not let you change the rules of the game....
Please refer to earlier in the thread where Kori DID post the rules proving that the call was good.

:lmao The ref mantra!

Right on cue.

The cry of the true loser.

Thank you for being so predictable.

My confused friend, no team cries more than the Spurs. Do you even watch them play? It's painful after every foul. Spurs fans should NEVER talking smack about whinning....your whole team and organization are a bunch of cry babies. Sad sad...this only makes you look silly.

I don't understand why Spurs fans get so happy about the Lakers beating the Mavs...

You are still 3 games behind them..

And the Lakers are onle 0.5 behiand your team...

Not good for your guys..

You could be looking at a possible 5th seed by the end of this week...
I dont know why you think your going to change anything? You can bitch all you want, and its never going to get you anywhere. :fro

I expect the Lakers and Spurs will be first round opponents, 4th and 5t seeds. I figure the only aspect that will avoid that is Spurs staying healthy while other teams have injuries to top players.

Spurs and Lakers have 2 games this month:

LAL @ SA 17th (ESPN)

SA @ LAL 25th (Sunday/ABC)

.... which take on a much bigger playoff significance than I imagined last month.

Fuck all you cretinous Laker and Mavs dumbfuck trolls.
Don't bother to respond, I have every fucking one you on IGNORE.

Damn, Lakers beat Mavs and it wasn't Kobe who killed them?! :wow

I thought that Jerry Sloane will easily win COY this season for his job with the Jazz, but I have to say, Phil Jackson is probably doing the best job in his career right now. He's turned a team with Kobe and a bunch of guys who I wouldn't even consider role players: Sasha, Smush Parker, Brian Cook, etc. and turned them into something. Crazy thing is they are winning without Lamar Odom and Kwame Brown.

PS. MAVS SUCK! :)

"it wasn't Kobe who killed them"

Sacha's 2 late 3Gs were nails the coffin, but Kobe was there to make sure they were nailed in.

As the Spurs saw in LA when the Lakers thoroughly out-played the Spurs, Phil has his rag-tag + Kobe bunch inspired and having fun, which is easy to sustain when none of them has ever been on winning, competitive teams. When they're inspired to do some thing, it's easier to get them to do Phil's thing, which of course is the winning things.

Probably victim of his own success, Pop is clearly having problems inspiring/motivating the Spurs to play basketball, to have some fun, to have some confidence, even swagger. "yawn, been there, done that, it's a long season." is how the flirting-with-5th seed Spurs are playing now, unmotivated by Pop, un-led by Tim.

That's why I say Pop has "lost" the team. Not in the sense they don't want to play for nor disrespect Pop, but that he can't get them to play anywhere near their potential.
