Success could test relationship of GM Paxson, coach Silas in future
It's been nearly a full year since Cavs General Manager Jim Pax son and head coach Paul Silas began working together, and NBA sources marvel that their relationship has been better than many expected - so far.
Numerous NBA insiders assumed Paxson and Silas would be awkward partners, given: 1. Paxson's rep for being a control freak who does his share of armchair coaching and, 2. Silas' rep for having a huge ego - and a politician's talent for shifting blame away from himself when things go wrong.
But, so far, Paxson and Silas have generally worked well together - though the GM was privately furious last season by reports suggesting Silas had to prod him to trade underachieving players like Ricky Davis and Darius Miles.
Still, NBA folks suggest the biggest threat to the Paxson-Silas relationship will come when (if) the Cavs become a winning team. Why? They think each man will be working overtime to draw the lion's share of credit.
Trade Wagner? NBA insiders say the Cavs should trade shooting guard Dajuan Wagner this summer, while he still has some gloss as an NBA player. Wagner may be one more so-so season away from being viewed as an NBA journeyman - with little trade value.
says Indian relievers must make him feel confident he knows what he'll get from them most games. In Wedge's eyes, that means pitching well in four (or more) straight outings.
It took Browns wide receiver Dennis Northcutt
just one practice after his long holdout to notice the main difference in the team's offense with Jeff Garcia as starting quarterback. Namely, that passes are delivered much quicker - and much crisper - than when Tim Couch (overrated) and Kelly Holcomb (predictable) were under center.
