FALLUJAH, Iraq, Nov. 8 (Xinhuanet) -- Mosques in Iraq's restive city of Fallujah announced on Monday that the fighters inside the city have captured 35 US soldiers.

Loud speakers of the mosques blared out the news as US forces were trying to penetrate the rebel-held city, but the news could not be independently confirmed.

US troops and Iraqi special forces stormed into the western districts of Fallujah early Monday and seized the main city hospital and two key bridges over the Euphrates River.

US officials said there may be more fierce fighting to come if US forces try to enter downtown Fallujah on the east bank of the river.

No western sources have confirmed or denied this report.

Wow, dan's devolved from Salon and demounderground to China's government mouthpiece.

BTW, not even Al Qaeda TV, aka Al Jazeera is reporting this, and they've got people inside the city supposedly.

They do report 12 Fallujan KIAs, and about 30 more hurt, along with one downed US UAV.

So now al Jazeeer is a more reliable source than a Chinese News organization? Funny how aligences to news organizations turn for these board Neocons when it serves their manipulative means.

I would consider a tv outlet who prides itself on reporting American deaths and expressing outrage at American actions in Iraq to be more reliable than some government agency half a continent away.

Funny how when confronted with facts that make you look fucking stupid (which happens pretty damn frequently) you have to change the topic.

I make no pretenses that AJ is somehow impartial or fair, but if there was 35 American troops "under control" in Fallujah, they'd have it plastered all over the airwaves and their web site.

I'm not going to say this hasn't happened, beucause I have seen a lot of stories break first outside the US, and the military is always very slow to report this sort of thing. I sincerely hope it hasn't, but if it has I am extreeeeeemely suspicious of just how it could have happened.

Very, very sad and unfortunate if true.

I'll hold further judgement until it is confirmed by other sources.

I hope this isn't true. I really care about our military men and women and would never hope for their deaths.

I don't believe it's true. The AP has photos from Fallujah, and Al Jazeera has reports from the inside.

The latter, in particular, would be spouting off if they had troops captured.

And finally, I have an incredibly hard time believing 35 Marines would willingly let themselves be captured. They're unleash all the firepower they had, call for air support, and go down swinging.

Marines don't surrender, they take as many with them if they can if they're going down.

For the Record i won't believe anything the press tells, i think its probably alot worse than it really is. Casualty wise and progress, they might not give us all of it.

I'm not expecting casualty totals until the battle is completely over.

Every time in the past those totals have gotten out, a combination of pussy footing here at home and "outrage" elsewhere in the world have caused us to let up and pull back before finishing the mission.

As Rumsfeld said today, they won't end this until Fallujah is free of insurgents.

Yeah Mikey, remind me again who's fighting to bring our boys home to their families again? Your as fucked up as the Swifties accusing JK of treason when all he was really doing was trying to bring as many troops home as possible, even though Nixon and Ford had given up on them.
