Webber gone (http://www.philly.com/mld/dailynews/sports/16424148.htm)

He gets all but 5 million of the 20 this year and 22 next.

Guaranteed contracts of this magnatude are a joke.

It will be interesting to see how the Sixers respond to Webber and Iverson being gone.

$37M for doing nothing. NBA salaries are fucked up beyond belief.

The 450 NBA players average $4M.

There aren't even 30 x 7 = 210 rotation players worth watching.

It's not so much the amount of the contracts, but the fact that it's all guaranteed money in the NBA that makes it laughable. If only you could take out the trash in the NBA like in football...

Webber gives Dirk an orgasim. What the hell is an orgasim anyway? Simulated stimulation? :smokin

So you'd prefer that the owners get all the money. That's a little surprising coming from you, but vive le difference.

The NFL's pay structure is grossly unfair for a monopoly.

Getting back to the thread, we need a vBookie (now that it's fixed) on where C-Webb ends up.

They play 7 days a week, with a break every now and then. So probably 27-28 games a month.

I heard a long time ago NBA had the highest avg pro salaries, and that seems to be the case.

MLB avg is way lower:

Now that would be a mistake of huge proportions!!! I really doubt the Mavs even give Webber a thought.

Give me a break! If that was us we would be fighting for every single penny on that contract. Webber did what anyone would do.

I've got no hate for CWebb, or any player trying to "feed his family" a la Spree. If the New Yorks and Phillys of the league want to hinder their teams for years to come by giving worthless players bloated contracts, let them. I'd only be ticked if it were the Spurs doing it, but neither Rose nor Rasho plays in SA anymore. :)

Useless? I don't know. Look at Alonzo Mourning. He's old, but he's still got a rhythm going on. But Shaq's done.

The team is old they can't rely on Zo to help Wade thru the season. I mean they conisder a 3 point victory over the Baby Blazers a important win. :lol

^^^THIS guy?

Nope, not for a hella long time.

Billy King watched Webber's last game with Sacramento and took him based on his par-excellent game against the Hawks. Maybe he went inside a couple of times that night, but only when the lane was clear. Billy King remembers the OLD C-Webb, but I doubt a GM will make that same mistake again.

No shit! Chris will likely play for vets minimum... for hardware only.

Webber Likely To Go To Detroit?

10th January, 2007 - 11:14 pm

Newsday -

Chris Webber was bought out of his contract with the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday.

According to a league source, Webber is likely to go to the Pistons, his hometown team. He reportedly has a five-team wish list: Miami, Detroit, San Antonio, Dallas, and the Lakers.

But as Thomas said, "We'll be interested in anyone who is made available, and if there's a fit, we'll try to make it work."

I sure the hell don't. I'd be ok with him if he was willing to spell Dirk for 10-12 minutes per game and be satisfied with that but I don't see him accepting that in the long run. He might say he would but he'd end up not being happy and it would cause problems IMO.

I'm thinking it will be Detroit or Miami. He made a statement on his website (chriswebber.com)
"I wish the 76ers organization the best and I thank the fans for their support during my time in Philadelphia. I appreciate Ed Snider and Billy King for their cooperation with the buyout of my contract. I believe this is the best situation for both parties and I look forward to continuing my basketball career."

Kinda adds to Shaq just being a big kid in that he apparently likes WWE. As, for the most part, only kids and hicks like that shit and Shaq ain't no hick. :lol
