View Full Version : What Team Would You Cheer For?

Let's say that the Spurs' ownership sells and the team is relocated in the near future. Do you stay a (whatever city) Spurs fan or do you jump ship and turn to another team?

For myself - I think the day the Spurs leave SA is the day I never watch another NBA game again. It's that or become a Mavs fan, and I just don't care for the NBA that much.

Root for the Rockets more than likely.

Whatever D-League franchise San Antonio is awarded to play in Freeman Coliseum.

Then the Hornets or Bobcats or Grizzlies or Bucks when they move into the AT&T Center later.

It's been 24 years since the Spurs and I lived in the same city.

It would be weird, but I'll always be a Spurs fan no matter where they hang their shingle.

I'd always follow them, regardless of where they are located. Could you Spurs fans now really just drop all affilation just because they'd be out of state?

as long as the spurs have TD, TP, and The Manu, i'll be a fan. If TD happens to get traded, I'll follow his new team and the Spurs. I'm a TD homer since his frosh year at Wake.

ChumpDumper

Yeah, I'd still follow the Spurs as long as there was some continuity. But after a long enough period of player and FO turnover, I might look elsewhere -- especially since SA would probably be getting a team not too long after.

Long time Oilers fan right here. I still cheer for the Titans, always will.

I can't imagine the Spurs leaving San Antonio, but if they were to leave I would probably still cheer for them as well.

Fuck Dallas.

Of all the Oilers fans I knew it seemed about 50-50 on the issue when the team left. Half cheer for the Titans while the other half cheer for the Cowboys or some other team. Almost none of them cheer for the Texans, and if my team passed on Vince Young and Reggie Bush I wouldn't cheer for them either.

Sort of on the subject, I was thinking the other day about Timmy and when they retire his jersey.

I wonder what his ceremony will be like. Tim is such a no fuss guy; I hope he lets the city go all out for him though. :)

If the Spurs moving was also coupled by the immediate retirement/trading/or restricted free agency of Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili and Bruce Bowen all at once then I would likely move on. Although, if the team were moved to Austin or some other local city then I would likely remain a fan. But if they became (for instance) the Vancouver Spurs or the Las Vegas Spurs then I would have to cheer for the Hornets alone.

If you grew up with them...yes. They would no longer be the San Antonio Spurs.

That is the appeal to a lot of us.

Is there another possible answer for a true silver and black bleeder?

I have bled silver and black as true and as long and as passionately as anyone here...my answer remains the same.

When a team came back here, that would be my team.

Very, very true!.....I remember when they were just beginning to turn things around right after the Moon Era, with Steve McNair and Eddie George. Then the ONE YARD FALLOUT...that was tough...maybe not as bad as .04, but still pulls in a close 2nd or 3rd.
