I need to get my music organized. Anyone have recommendations for programs that will do batch processing of ID3 tags, file renaming, etc?

Oh, and I have an iPod , so it would be helpful if it did m4p files, too.

I'm willing to pay, but freeware is good, too.

I can't vouch for how good either of these are, but they're free:

About halfway down the page. Lots of other free stuff on here (and page one), also.

The one I used recently was good. I know the name changed, but you should still be able to find it.

KMP3.

Thanks. There are tons of programs around; that's actually the problem. I was wondering if anybody could vouch for any particular one over the others.

iTunes is good for it, you have to do it all one by one, but it's very nice and reliable.

A program called "FixTunes" saved my life. It'll re-tag songs based on the info it has in the filename. Don't know the URL, but it's pretty cheap, 20 dollars I think and it's a lifesaver if you have tons of songs.

Yeah, I know iTunes and winamp and the like will do it one by one, but it won't do it in batch and it won't change/standardize the file names. And checking/deleting for duplicates is kind of clunky. That's why so many people have come up with these programs.

JB, I found "AudioGrail", which used to be K-MP3. I'm gonna give the free version a whirl.

I think Audacity does it. (I use audacity for other stuff)

ID3-TagIT

Is what I use, it's very powerful and can do the simple stuff and the difficult one too. It handles all versions of ID3 tags and can use the info from the filename or create filenames from the ID3s.

It has done everything I ever needed to do with ID3.

i used tag&rename - very simple, you can mass tag albums or use freedb and amazon to grab the track names - with amazon you can pull the artwork too if you are interested in that:
