View Full Version : NFC Championship...Saints @ Bears

venue: Soldier Field
time & day: Sunday 1pm MT
line: ?

thoughts: Bears defense looks suspect and are going against a team that has arguably the best offense in the league. doubtful Grossman plays well again and Brees is playing better than any QB in the league. however, if Grossman is on, there are big plays to be had against the secondary...the Saints run defense was pretty good against Eagles.

predictions: Saints 28 Bears 24

Greg Oden

i doubt grossman has 2 good games in a row. and i look for Bush and Deuce to run wild on their defense.

..man, i would love an 11 point win, i just think it will be closer. but maybe grossman will oblige us and have a really shitty day....maybe he will.

thats what i am hoping for, but i do think Seattle is better than people give them credit. if the Saints can put up 30+, i think they win no doubt...

Saints win this easy. I would love to see the Bears defeated after all of Grossman's "I-am-pretty-much-saying-we-will-win-the-SB-without-actually-saying-that" crap this week. "Two wins away from having a ring on my finger for the rest of my life," yeah fuck you selfish asshole.

saints 35 bears 13

payton will try to jump all over the bears early to put rex in a must throw to win situtuation......GAME OVER.

Tommie Harris=Greg Ellis

Cowboys had a top 5 D until GE got hurt...........Bears are done.

i would love to see the game be put in Grossman's hands. hopefully, the Saints can jump on them early...thats the best gameplan; take the bears running game out of it.

Yeah, I don't see issue with that statement, either. In a way, he's saying what coaches preach in these situations, 'play it as just another game.' If you don't play to win, then you might as well play for Detroit (haha sorry).

My heart says Aints, but if Grossman shows up the Bears should win this game.

sometimes the bears had a tough time stopping the run this year and its because their d Line is undersized evcen with harris in there making easy to run on them

Grossman showed in the beginning of the season that he can make big plays all over the place and if he shows up like that here it will be easier for the bears to win b/c NO's secondary is susceptible against the big play i.e. not enough speed and CHI's WR Berrian is a speedster

NO's run defense was stout against the Eagles but against the bears it will be harder i think because of the Two headed running attack of Jones and Benson

Chi will have its toughest time against the Saints offense when Brees Spreads the fieald with Colston Henderson and Bush and McAllister should continue to dominante on the ground

If the saints offense can force the bears to play catch up, give the championship to the saints because Grossman is at his best when hes scared and plays carefully. Forced with the task of bringing them back he will crumble

NO will suffer if they let Hester run crazy on them thought im sure Peyton has a plan to stop him

Overall I think Brees will have the Saints ahead and then keep them ahead, having Grossman play the hero and fail greatly

What's the weather like? If it's snow and icy wind - I'll give the edge to the Bears. No Superdome atmosphere here - and you know Brees and especially Bush aren't used to playing in those conditions, but the Bears are used to it.

If it's mild weather, the Saints should win a close game. I just don't see the Saints blowing them out on the road.

It's going to be hard for either team to score with the field as fucked up as it is. If it comes down to the passing game, the Saints have a huge advantage with Brees.

It's the speed of the people playing on the other side of the ball that's hurting him. The Bears have one of the fastest defenses in the NFL, and they are playing on the same field.

It's having a huge effect. They are a dome team that relies on speed. The slippery sod is slowing them down, thus effecting their game.

How much does the weather/cold have an effect on the Saints play today?

It's effecting them because the main skill position guys are warm weather guys for the most part. They aren't used to the weather.

That said the bigger issue is the pressure of the NFC Championship game.

Carson Palmer is a great QB, and IMO would have led the Bengals to the Super Bowl if not for a dirty shot by Von Olhoffen or whatever the fuckers name was. Troy Polomalu is one of the best safeties in the NFL. Lendale White is a beast who will become a monster in the NFL if he ups his work ethic. Was that a run or catch? I never said he couldn't outrun people who are behind him to the endzone using the entire field for an angle. The guy is fast, but he doesn't break it open from the RB position in the NFL. The Saints finally stacked the line and are pressing the receivers to stop the run. If Grossman was half of an NFL QB he'd be tearing the defense up right now. That coverage is what every QB dreams of.

The Bears running in the 1st half has given Grossman 1 on 1 coverage on at least one receiver on just about every play. No reason he shouldn't be torching the CBs with that field and 1 on 1 press coverage.
