The house was 50 when the heat came back on. The power was out from about 10pm to 5am. The internet/TV was out from about 10pm til just now. It didn't get that cold -- LJ keeps the airconditioning on 63 normally, so I guess I'm used to it. :lol

Around $250 in the summer. We don't live in a mansion :)

I was out of power from 5 pm yesterday to midnight last night. It blew hard. It's crazy how some of us have become so dependent on electricity. I did turn on my laptop though and watched the 05 championship dvd for a while, til it died.

Yeah it's interesting. It's weird how dependent I am on the internet. I guess because all of our work is on it.

But we actually played NBA Scrabble and did other stuff that was fun. I just was frustrated because I had a lot of work to do.

This is probably a somewhat stupid question but...

Does the wireless on your laptop work when power goes out?

Well the modem doesn't work if the power is out, but your wireless could connect to another network in the area I guess.

Our internet, cable TV, etc was all out even when the power came back on.

I haven't had internet since this morning ... but that's because U.'s butt was planted in front of it all day. :lol :makeout

I'd probably end up having to sedate myself and/or my kids if we lost power for that long. :spin

Holy cow- 63?!? I never have it that cold. The coldest I get it and it's rarely that I do- about 75. Usually it's at 78 and that works out just fine....and this is during the summer.

We have wireless, but Time Warner was down in our whole area so we couldn't connect to anything.

I put mine at 76-78, which puts me close to a $300 bill in the summer. Mine probably would be around $1000 if I had it at 63. Our house really should have dual air, but it doesn't.

Kori is lucky. When she met me I kept the thermostat on 55 degrees. I love the cold and literally can't fall asleep if it's over 65 degrees.

Oh and use some good ol' fashion asbestos laden insulation to keep energy costs down :tu

People could always do it when they don't have any power, it's fun and keeps you warm.

If you connect your wireless router to a UPS,
and if your service provider stays up,
yes. :)

When the power is off and you close the refrigerator door, does the light stay off?
