Uh.....NO....If you want, we can revist the numerous D-Rob teams that would continually dominate the regular season, only to crumble at some point during the playoffs....This is why EXPIERENCE is so significant, from the player down to the coach...I like Avery, but beating the Spurs' in one series doesn't automatically secure your place in the NBA Finals the following season...So GUYS, I purpose this....Let's take the high road....Let them revile in their glory for the entire regular season...We'll fly under the radar, not for too long, but just long enough. Then we will strike! :king

If this is the Mavs year you'd do better to point out there efforts in last year's playoffs. Regular season success is nothing new. With that said, I don't think it's their year.

EDIT: And you just did. Good job.

Oh, Gee!!
01-23-2007, 02:04 PM
But last year the Mavs finally got to the championship, that's something D-Rob never did until after Duncan was drafted. I realize they lost, but I think they have the motivation to get back and win it all.

I agree, the Spurs do not fly under any teams radar. Other teams in the league step up to play the Spurs more so than they do the Mavs. Teams in this league still consider San Antonio as the elite team and play their best against them. This is respect, the Mavs do not have that kind of respect yet. For that you have to win the championship and not bitch and moan about it for years, finally get to the finals and blow a 2-0 lead to lose 4 straight. Mavs fans can braid my ass hairs

Oh, Gee!!
01-23-2007, 02:13 PM
I never thought I'd live to see the Spurs win one championsip, let alone three. I really can't complain if 2005 was their last one.

The mavericks organization, actually the city of Dallas, has the most disgustingly pathetic excuse for sports enthusiasm i have ever witnessed. This entire fucking city makes fun of its sports stars at the tip of a hat. Parcells, Romo, Owens, Dirk, Terry, Howard, Nellie, AJ: all have been ridiculed and belittled by local sports show hosts both on tv and radio. Its really scary when you understand that the people of this city do not realize this is not the norm throughout the sports world. Their media programs them to be the most fairweather fans in existence. Fuck dallas, they never deserve to win a championship in any sport ever.

If the Mavs dont give games away like they did many times in the playoffs last year and if they can stay healthy, they will win the championship. The only team who can beat the Mavs is themselves. Last years losses:

Game 1 vs Spurs- 9 point lead in 2nd half
Game 6 vs Spurs- 8 point lead in 2nd half

Game 1 vs Suns- 9 point lead late in the 4th

Game 3 vs Miami- 13 point lead halfway through the 4th
Game 5 vs Miami- 9 point lead in early 2nd half and many chances to win it.
Game 6 vs Miami- 15 point lead early in the game then lost control of the game.

If the Mavs just execute, answer runs, play to their fullest potiental, and have good health and team chemistry= Better then anyone in the league hands down and will win the title!

Is this the Mavs year? It could be. But it could just as likely be the Suns year...they scare the living daylights out of me. The sting of last years final could go one of two ways...provide motivation and fire to keep them going through this years playoffs, or psych them out and therefore make history repeat itself. The only way to know is for the games to be played.

The question is whether last year's Mavs were the '88 Detroit Pistons or the '02 Sacramento Kings.

The '88 Pistions blew a series against the Lakers that they should have won -- then they used that loss to springboard to two straight titles.

The '02 Kings also blew a series against the Lakers that they should have won -- their loss caused them to lose all confidence and fade into obscrurity, their one chance gone.

These Mavs seem to more closely resemble the '88 Pistons. But the stakes they will play for this year are staggering. Everyone will be waiting to attach the choke label. And they're led by a player who is still primarily a jump shooter.

It is normal. Los Angeles does it, Washington D.C. does it ( hell I live in Alexandria, they do it all the time), Miami does it, Chicago does it, Houston does it, New York does it all the damn time. Give me a damn break. Usually a city with more than one team especially one that represents the 4 major US sport leagues will always have negative and positive shit to say about their teams. And forgive the city of Dallas for saying negative shit about the Dallas Cowboys. They are use to contending and winning championships and is not use to this run we've been in the past 10 years.

Not a chance because your roster outside of the big 3 is nothing but old shit. The Mavs blew several good leads last year and if they fix that then every team is fucked. This team will win the title as long as they dont give away too many games in the postseason. Spurs used to be that good but now they are the ones down 9-20 points now when facing the Mavs. If they dont get cocky and know the job isnt finished until the clock reads 0:00...the title is ours.

First I want to qualify what I'm about to say by saying that this means nothing regarding the playoffs, because it's a whole different type of situation. But...you can't say the Mavs are "peaking" to early. You don't "peak" for half of a season...they are just playing consistently well. I have no idea if they'll go all the way this season, or if heaven forbid they could be upset as early as the first round. These threads are all the same, should be in the NBA forum, pretending the best record at the all star break makes you the champion, overlooking any strides the east might make over the course of the year, and then lookind past the west. Going through the Western playoffs is about the hardest thing to do in sports, the west champion will have to beat 3 good teams, before meeting a east team that wont have had the same hard road, so settle the fuck down, take a deep breath, and see what happens. And Dallas fans do suck balls, but you leave the godamn Cowboys out of it, they have more diehard fans in SA than in Dallas

All it does is help with playoff series seedings and homecourt advantage. But as last years finals shows, you can win without homecourt, and lower seeds get past higher seeds all the time

As for you second comment. I agree 100%. It's the last part of that post that needed to be addressed. As if it's the Mavs fault that the Suns were injured. It's part of the game. Hell if I wanted to play the if games, the Cowboys would have won more than 3 championships in the 90s if it wasn't for ego stupidity. Or maybe your Spurs would have had a great chance to repeat in 2000 if there wasn't so many injuries.

Wow, maybe you should move? Or does that job at McDonald's not afford you the ability to do that?

I think Phoenix is taking it this year. Nash always shits on the Mavericks and the Suns gave Dallas a good run last year despite only having a half a team. This year with Amare back and Nash staying in top form I don't see anything stopping these guys except the Spurs (if they get their heads outta their asses). The Suns (when healthy) have the Mavs' number.

Haven't they been healthy this season? Does going 0-2 vs. the Mavs this season mean "having their number" in your world?

The regular season means shit to me...especially games the first week of the season or the first month of the season for that matter. They may as well be preseason games. There are too many variables in the regular season...injuries, road trips, back to backs, etc. And Amare was not pushing himself hard that first month because he was having pain after games and they were only giving him limited minutes. It was a big adjustment period for the whole team. I don't care if the Suns don't beat the Mavs at all in the regular season...come May or June if the Suns are healthy I have no doubt they'll take out the Mavericks in a series.

You might be right about how things play out in the playoffs, but to say that the Suns have the Mav's number is ridiculous.

Sounds to me that you are the pathetic jealous loser. You probably hate the Cowboys for all the winning they have done. The Stars for winning once. Hopefully the Mavs will win one . I say fuck you and get the hell out. Only whiny losers will bitch all day about where they live and never do anything about it. Grow up and go away. :flipoff

Listen to this big guy. :lmao

WGAF? Wasn't this thread started by a Spurs fan? That alone should tell Mavs fans to stay away, just an opp for a lot of bitchin about the Mavs.
