Interview on WOAI TV Sports just now--said Pop stated this team will win or lose with the team they now have.

Kori--check out the 10 pm show on channel 4.

That was the inference.

Malik also would not be traded in 2005

And we wouldn't have won that 3rd ring.

It's quite clever to say that : " if you wan to win, just play better and don't expect to receive some miracle help that will give you a ring."
Spurs roster has some weaknesses but these weaknesses aren't the only reason of Spurs' struggles : some players should play better.

Kori--check out the 10 pm show on channel 4.

That was the inference.

Oh, so it was inference, not stated "no trades will be made" (as the title of this thread states).

Big Shot Rob
01-25-2007, 06:55 PM
Kori-- He did not say "Pop says no trades will be made." He did say that Pop has told them there wouldn't be any changes--that this is the team that will win or lose a championship.

Big Shot Rob
01-25-2007, 06:56 PM
Actually--lets check out the 6 p,m. newscast--I thought it was past 6 already and would have to wait until 10 pm.

If I am incorrect in the inference, feel free to delete.

That dont mean shit. The Kings told Peja he would not be traded and there was no trade talks involving Peja.... Its a teams job to make sure none of the players know that they are being shopped.... if they find out they will not want to give their all for the team.....

yeah their keepin it a secret so the player whose getting traded wont be worried during games.

Tony was asked if it was time to make a trade and responded, ""Yeah you can always think about that. But at the end of the day, Coach Pop says that we are going to go with what we have and either we win a championship or not."

Non-story really.

The more important story that you didn't mention from that broadcast is that Bowen missed practice with back spasms.

Pack your bags, Brent.

Pop said on his radio show that the Spurs had no interest in a trade at the precise moment the Spurs were hammering out the details of 2 Mailk trades and a Barry trade.

I cant be the only one who is sick of all these CIA inferences. The Spurs are not going to make a move. Pop and Holt have a plan and its not centered around this season, its a long term plan. This team could miss the playoffs and the two of them would be content to stick with their plan. They know Tim is only getting older and slower and they know if they dont have a plan for the future when he retires they will be up shit creek without a paddle.

As much as we all might was a trade to shore up the bench and bring a little excitement, its not going to happen. EOS

Sounds a bit like Colonel Travis telling the Alamo defenders that Fannin's reenforcements wouldn't be arriving. Did Pop draw a line in the dirt and ask the players to step over it?

I don't expect any impact trade. This spurs front office has not pulled the trigger on any meaningful trade that has made much of a difference ever. Just one year rentals, that's been about it. So I don't see anything happening anytime soon.

They either can never work anything out or are too afraid to pull the trigger on anything for cap reasons or whatever else that always prevents them from trying to improve the team with a trade.

Well, either it's classic CIA and a trade is coming or we're fucked and not winning the title again this year.

We'll know by the end of February which one it is :lol

Given all the constraints, hopefully the Spurs can pull a pick out of any trade they make. In all likelihood, they'd be the ones giving up a pick(s).

WTF is with everyone clamouring for a Parker trade? Pop has made it clear our PG situation is dire, and not because of Parker. We need MORE PGs, not less. Which is why any trade that includes Parker or Barry (our best back up PG at this point) is looked at so critically. And we can't trade Manu, he's our best, most clutch 4th quarter guy.

That doesn't leave much for trade bait.

That being said, any trade for a long SF/SG who can play D would be welcome in my book, and as far as I'm concerned anyone not named Duncan, Manu, Parker, or Bowen is an option.

Big Shot Rob

BTW Kori--

At 5 pm yesterday--they did not mention Bowen.

At 6 pm yesterday--they did not mention Parker.
