View Full Version : Rumor: Cowboys receive permission to talk to Jeff Fisher
Allegedly per the NFL Network. Pulled from another board.
May not be legit

hell no
unless jones gave a monster fuckin contract and its salary is humongous, theres no way. the titans would be dumber than i thought if they let fisher go
though fisher could teach roy how to cover beng a former db himself

No, I dont think its legit because the Titans released a statment saying they would not grant permission and they are trying to work out a long term deal. Although I would love to see him in big D
I saw the statement, but Schefter DID actually say that Fisher didn't sign an extension. One other board I saw said that the Cowboys received permission to talk to him, but that's all I've heard about it. Doesn't seem legit.
Pretending it is, I don't know about it. I like Fisher as a coach, but as I understand it, the Cowboys would have to give up compensation to get him. And as a reference, the Bucs had to give the Raiders two firsts, two thirds, and a fourth to get Gruden, if I'm not mistaken.
Way too much to give up, in my opinion.

Yea they gave up those picks over 3 years, but I have always thought that giving up picks for a coach is a stupid move. I like Fisher as well, think he is a great coach, but if this is true, you are right, we would have to give up a lot of picks to get him, and with this team, those picks could make a difference between a Super Bowl and another 1st round exit. I am completely fine with the combo of Phillips/Garrett, I dont see Norm coming here because of the Garret hire. Personally I would love Mike Singeltary, even as a head coach
