That was frickin sweet.

Props to Tim for keeping them in the whole game. Manu and Tony for not giving up, despite their awful starts. Manu's huge block on Kobe and Tony with big shots in the OT.

And especially, the big, big balla shots from Bowen and Finley.

Last two quarters were straight up classic. Kobe is clutch. Finley is nails!!!

:tu More so than that, just their overall defensive effort towards the end of the 3rd and ALL of the 4th quarter was the best I've seen from them all season.

Agree! Great WIN to boost our confidence back and let even go for much more now and win ALL games on the road! Glad to see Michael Finley hitting this extremely important shot - and the good news is he has 2 good games in a row shooting well now...I guess, we have to take some of the crap back said against him, I certainly do, I hope he keeps it going though!!! Props to the whole team, but personally I think Manu's block on Kobe saved the game - Pop should've played Manu on Kobe from that point on - Bruce couldn't guard Kobe at all...Otherwise, the Spurs were NEVER in the Game until the 4th, but everyone's heroics helped for the win despite this crazy 29% FG shooting!!!
1 Down, 7 to go!!! :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap

Agreed.

Tim is definitely THE man. Props to Tony & Manu stepping up when we really needed it. The D in overtime I thought started out sloppy but the guys pulled it together in the end. (Thank goodness!)

Kobe is a phenomenal player, good grief he couldn't miss! He's looking to distribute the ball more often now and really turning out to be a great leader for his team. Big props to him.

I have serious doubts that Kobe did it on purpose. I'd have to see a few more replays of the incident to be sure, but Kobe has said how much he admires the way Manu plays and such...I don't think he would elbow him in the face if he thinks so highly of him.

Yeah, I see Kobe backhand people who roof him on his jumper all the time :rolleyes I mean, there's not a game that doesn't go by that Kobe doesn't wind up and deck some guy blocking his shot...

Kobe has said how much he loves his wife before, but that didn't stop him from going Captain Colorado on some hotel worker.

Here is the sequence.

Kobe receives the ball
Drives left
Pump fakes on Bowen, Bowen jumps toget a hand up and is erased from the play
Just as Kobe is about to shoot, Manu blocks his shot from behind.
After realizing he is in a helpless state, and his desire to get the ball, he conveniently, INTENTIONALLY elbows Manu in the face to get the ball back so can jack up another jumper before the clock runs out.

Watch it in fast mo, slow mo, the footage doesn't lie. That shit was intentional.

I didn't see the alleged swipe by Kobe at Manu, but if it serves to help toughen this team up or get it on edge, then I thank Kobe. More importantly, I'll take this fuggin road win on national tv any day. Nice start to the trip!

Um, I came with the fact what he did was a punk ass bitch move from a punk ass bitch. He was even taunting Horry about getting way with fouling him on his game winning shot attempt. Dude is a prick.

And as to the second part of your response, it's called sarcasm. That was my point, this is the first time ever Kobe has decked someone after they blocked his shot. Therefore, I'm going to argue that it wasn't an accident, as you claim.

Sorry that went over your head.

I agree AGhoopsfan.

I believe Kobe reacted to getting stuffed by taking it out on Manu popping his glory shot.

He may respect Manu's game from afar, but on the court, the dude is a prick! He doesn't care who you are, he'll take any opportunity to taunt or prop himself up. And if you threaten his glory game. He'll be pissed. Whether you're an opponent or teammate! (Elbowing Sasha)

That said, when you get blocked, it's quite unnatural to take the forearm like he, did.

I think he got pissed he got owned and reacted sorely! The dude deserves his props for his play this year, but I'm not defending him for his cheap sportsmanship.

What I liked about this win is that the Spurs won a big game against a solid playoff team on national TV on the road. The Spurs overcame ice cold shooting and they made up for that in part by beating the Lakers big time on the boards. I like how a handful of guys made terrific contributions. Great win, indeed.

Why don't all of you stop whining and picking at each other over such a stupid non-incident. Is Manu bitching about it? I didn't even see it, didn't even see the game. But I'm pretty sure that the incident is being exaggerated. These are pro athletes, they are competitive, such happens. Maybe it got whistled, maybe not. But nobody got hurt and the Spurs got the fuckin win. I hope that EVERY team has a player which takes a non-injury threatening swipe at a Spur if it will get the Spurs on edge, fired up and will rally them.

I'm just saying, the guy is a prick on the court. Fuck. It's not some big revelation.

He was trying to create contact, after he had been blocked and the ball was away, by swinging wildly out to his side at the height of someone's head?

GD-
The contact had Manu laid out and bleeding. It was a big deal when it happened because Manu had to get patched up and the bleeding stopped to play in overtime.

I do agree with you about this incident lighting a fire in the Spurs though. It is a great day when the Spurs can overcome a few bad calls and pull out a win....especially against the Lakers.

You can't make this kind of statement without backing it up with proof. The NBA had it's own investigation and came up with nothing. Some of the best offensive players, Kobe included, have praised Bruce for his defense. Kobe has said that playing against Bruce challenges him and makes him a better player.

I'll call him wrong. And if he lies I have no problem calling him a liar. So do you call Isiah and the Knicks organization liers? They seem to think he is a dirty player.

isiah also thought that if larry bird was black he be just an ordinary basketball player. the lesson here: isiah shouldn't think.

You can't make this kind of statement without backing it up with proof. The NBA had it's own investigation and came up with nothing. Some of the best offensive players, Kobe included, have praised Bruce for his defense. Kobe has said that playing against Bruce challenges him and makes him a better player.

It was a good game. Spurs won. Lakers lost. Lakers have won 2 out of 3. Quit your bitching.

Isiah is a chump ass bitch. Did you ever watch Isiah play? Him and his teammates in Detroit did far worse than the shit you and him are bitching like little girls about Bowen doing, but that was just good physical basketball.

Isiah was just pissed because the shine was already starting to wear off his coaching acumen with the Knicks and there were already articles in the paper quoting management about him getting fired if his team didn't turn things around.

So when the shit hits the fan, it's easier for Isiah to play the victim card than own up to his shitty coaching in that game.

I mean come on, Francis didn't even blame Bowen for what happened. Just a pathetic ass coach who has fucked up everything he has ever touched involving a basketball team since he retired.

It's a Spurs forum. If you honesly think that we would take your side that Bowen is a dirty player and Kobe is a saint, you really are delusional.

We know who our players are. They don't have to fly back and forth for court dates because they "allegedly" raped someone and they don't hold press conferences admitting that they cheated on their wives.

By the way, Bowen has made all-defensive team and had been mentioned as a candidate for DPOY on more than one occasion. If he were really trying to hurt someone, he'd have been punished.

But the tape does not prove 100% that he was being intentional. Unless one is in the locker room with Bowen or talking to him about it, it is impossible to determine 100% without a shadow of a doubt that he was intentionally trying to hurt someone. Theories and speculation can be drawn but 100% accuracy cannot be guaranteed.

that is a fair point and I can understand how non-Spur fans would say that. I think what Spurschick was talking about (and if I am wrong SC, let me know) is that you said "I know 100%" you weren't just making an accusations, you were presenting it as fact. If anyone presents something as fact, they should expect to be asked for proof and be ready for it. If I went to ClubLakers and dropped the "I know that Kobe did it on purpose" I would be called out for the same thing and rightfully so.

That's kinda sweet of him. I've always said, Kobe off the court I may have issues with, but when he's on the court he's 100% competitor. He's always praised Ginobili and said he was the funnest player to watch. Before the game today he was praising Pop and Duncan for the way they've been able to be continously successful year after year. And he's always given props to Bowen adn defended him when asked about who the best is at defending him, etc.

It's a big win that's for sure. As for KObe's hit on Manu, those things happen, Kobe did drop his hand back to initiate contact, probably looking for a foul, it just hit in a bad place for Manu, but it's not like no one else does it. I personally think KObe gets away with a lot, but in this case, it was just a dumb move by KObe he should have been called for a foul, but like always, when it comes to KObe and other so called superstars, the refs chose not to.
