Why is everyone so pissed? That wasn't an easy game, with or without Boozer in there. Playing in Utah is tough and Okur always hurts the Spurs. The Jazz are by far the best rebounding team in the NBA, so you had to expect stretches like the one in the 3rd. For the most part, the Spurs played a great game and the Jazz just got the benefit of calls and hit the shots they needed to.

This wasn't a poorly played game by the Spurs. The Jazz just got more of the bounces and little things that went their way. This is easily a positive game for the Spurs.

We lose to the Jazz...it's like the 1990s all over again.

Robinson = Duncan
Ginobili = Sean Elliot
Tony = ??? (Vinny Del Negro, I don't know)

We lost, imo, due to our reliance on the jump shot in the second quarter. Why is it that other teams have at least one or two guys who can knock down jumpers at will and we have NO ONE. The Spurs deserved to lose after being out hustled and out rebounded (and minus Boozer!) Pathetic. I'm ashamed.

Robert Horry taking that shot is fine. If you miss you want a chance to get a offensive rebound in that situation. You're not going for the win, you're going for the tie so it makes no sense to let the clock run down before you shoot.

This wasn't a poorly played game by the Spurs. The Jazz just got more of the bounces and little things that went their way. This is easily a positive game for the Spurs.Maybe if I had HD I could see things that way, too.

Instead, I saw one more team without their best player beat the Spurs.

They got outrebounded 50-32 when the Jazz didn't have Boozer. What's positive about that :lolThe Jazz rebound extremely well with or without Boozer. Does it really hurt them not to have Boozer when they have Millsap to step in and do just as much of the dirty work? Boozer is a great rebounder, but the Jazz have a lot of those who can fill in the gaps. They missed Boozer's offense much moe than his rebounding.

The Spurs played well tonight. They're not going to becomea good rebounding team this year with the players they have, so we might as well learn to live with that. Tony showed big nuts, and I thought Tim and Manu did a good job tonight as well. Thats very positive. The Spurs also played very good defense.

I'm not sure what people thought. Did posters here expect a blowout because Boozer wasn't there? You're not going to get many blowouts against good teams like the Jazz on the road. Its just not going to happen.

Secondly, its a Jerry Sloan coached team, and you know that the entire team is going to bring it with or without Boozer. They're a TEAM not driven by a single player.

It isn't the same as if we were playing a team like the Lakers without Kobe. The Jazz aren't built to work around Boozer, so with or without him they're going to be a pretty damn good team.

The Spurs slept for 3 1/2 quarter in this game (the same way they did against the LA), but this time their late run didn't pay off - we thought this team was inspired from the great "W" against LA, but unfortunately this isn't the case. Another devastating and pathetic performance during large part of the game - the Spurs started playing real basketball in the last 5-6 min. in the 4th quarter - you cannot win many games by doing that - props to the Jazz today - we saw clearly that Elson is NOTHING - he couldn't get rbs, didn't cover anyone, didn't score...Besides Tony and Timmy, and somewhat Barry, Manu, and Horry, the rest of squad produced NOTHING today - the execution in the end of the game was EXTREMELY POOR - Horry mishandled the ball several times - I have no idea WHY Barry didn't play in the last 1 min. of the game (instead of Bruce, who missed wide open 3 to tie the game)...The Spurs had no answer in the Glass - Elson and Oberto were a DISASTER...Pop didn't find anyone to cover Okur for 48 min. The Spurs have a real problem with the backup PG position - nobody is there to cover for Tony...The Jazz won without Boozer - a disastrous loss for the Spurs today - they HAD TO WIN THIS GAME vs. a short-handed team (without their BEST player), but they failed! One more reason to blame coaching and management for NOT improving the squad this year - A SHAME!!!

Tomorrow is the Suns - and after today's POOR performance, in a back-to-back situation with the OLD DONKEYS in the team, the Spurs will get BLOWN OUT by 20+ Points - the Suns won't miss the chance to stick it in...I will be deeply surprised if the Spurs win in Arizona, and I hope they prove me wrong… :blah :blah :blah :blah :blah :blah

You guys sound like you just lost to a sub 500 team, when infact you just lost to a team with the fourth best record in the NBA, and until recently had been dominate on their homecourt. Utah has been in a lot of close games this year, 13 games this year decided by 3 points or less, 4 of their six losses have also been at the Buzzer. so its quite concievable that the Jazz could be 34-13, not 30-17.

The Spurs played their hearts out but the Jazz just simply out worked them downlow. the Spurs also shot a lot more jumpshots, but thats because they read the scouting report on the Jazz and know the Jazz couldn't stop a guy in a wheelchair from draining threes on them.

Paul Millsap is a beast, he is a natural rebounder who lead the NCAA in rebounding for three years at Lousiana Tech. His numbers aren't that high because Boozer has been healthy and has taken most the minutes at the power forward. Haffa sucks though, there is really no excuse for letting him have one good game against you, let alone letting him have his two best games of the season against you.(His previous best game was against the Spurs in that blowout after Christmas)

Haffa sucks though, there is really no excuse for letting him have one good game against you, let alone letting him have his two best games of the season against you.(His previous best game was against the Spurs in that blowout after Christmas)

Nice essay but you're wrong. The Spurs were 10 points better, Pop was just 2 janitors shittier than Sloan.

How where the Spurs 10 points better? They got worked on the boards, plus the Spurs would go through stretches where they couldn't hit a thing, in the middle of the first they missed like 11 shots in a row.

Disagree.

The Spurs were out there fighting. If the bigs could have kept the rebounding decently within range, the Spurs walk away with a win.

Duncan played well. Parker played very well. Ginobili was competing. Horry played well. The hole in the middle was just too large to overcome.

DISAGREE??? "Fighting"??? You've gotta be kidding!!!

losing rbs and "fighting" simply don't go along. Wew were (-18) rbs...WHERE IS BUTLER??? WHY HE IS NOT PLAYING SINCE THOSE 2 GUYS ELSON AND OBERTO PRODUSE SHIT???

if you play hard and "fighting":

you block out,
you crash the boards,
you get RBs,
you get stops,
you don't make multiple fatal "Horry" errors in the last 2 minutes

The Spurs beat themselves...

Beno is finished

Spurs should start looking to see if Dennis Rodman is still available to either play or teach these punks how to hustle for rebounds.

For ShoogarBear - I ran an unofficial look from the game log (no DVR for this game) on pure +/- for Elson and Oberto. Totals are equally bad. Keeping in mind that Oberto was teamed with the starting unit in at least the start of the 1st and 3rd quarters... (column numbers indicate each segment of floor time)

Oberto...Elson
1. +1 .... -5
2. +1 .... -4
3. -9 .... +3
4. +3
------------
Tot -6 ... -6

That -9 stretch for Oberto was when the starters opened the 2nd half on that energy-less 2-11 run by Utah. That cold start to the half would prove to be a major ditch to dig out of.

Threads like this make this place the greatest site in the world... :clap

And you just barely beat the worst team in the West by 1 point. STFU.

You obviously just checked the box score...it was only close because of 3 ridiculous 3's by the Grizz in the last 30 seconds. 3, foul, 2 FT's, 3, foul, 2 FT's, 3 at the buzzer. Mavs make their FT's...there was never a doubt about the game...

:::cough::: no rings for the Mavs. Just a reminder.

:lol

There should be a button with the smiley's that just inserts that default comeback around here... :dizzy

They got outrebounded 50-32 when the Jazz didn't have Boozer. What's positive about that :lol

Kori with a nice dose of reality as usual... :fro
