Kobe gives Celtics fans reason to cheer... (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070201/ap_on_sp_bk_ga_su/bkn_nba_rdp;_ylt=ArVNKITXoLwmVEYsr.05jx4LMxIF;_ylu =X3oDMTA2Z2szazkxBHNlYwN0bQ--) :elephant
Boston fans finally had reason to cheer again. Too bad it had nothing to do with the Celtics. Instead, it was Kobe Bryant of the hated Lakers who heard "MVP!" chants while scoring 43 points in his return from a suspension, leading Los Angeles to a 111-98 victory Wednesday night that extended Boston's losing streak to 13 games...

Yah, it's funny. In '85 there was a game where Larry Bird scored 60 points against the Hawks in Atlanta. The fans AND the Hawks bench players were cheering and celebrating every Bird shot! Needless to say, those players were fined by the team.
Cliff Levingston on the fine: "I gladly paid my $100 cuz I got my money's worth."

Are they sure it wasn't the annoying Lakers fans that are everywhere? I remember the playoff games in both in the Dome and the at&t got really loud for the Lakers.

Same thing happened in LA when Robinson dropped 71 on the clippers. The Fans were cheering for him towards the end of the game everytime he touched the ball.

The game was in New Orleans though, so it's no surprise that everyone was a Celtics fan and not a Hawks fan. Still, that performance would have gotten Bird cheers even in The Forum, because he was hitting the most ridiculous shots ever seen in an NBA game. He was dropping fade-away 30 footers like it was nothing in that fourth quarter.

It wasn't that loud. I watched the Celtics-Lakers game, and I couldn't hear it.
