I watched a little of the Mavs/Grizz game last night and I got to thinking: if Gillespie's doing such a good job at A&M, what could an NBA coach like Barone do for the team, especially one that was there before, and a fan favorite at that?
And of course, I am completely joking. Does anyone else feel like they have stepped into the twilight zone everytime they see Barone on an NBA sideline? How did this happen? I saw a headline at espn.com once that said something like "Memphis getting used to Barone's full-throttle offensive attack". What universe is this? Can you imagine if A&M announced that they were dumping Gillespie to bring back Barone? It would literally be unbelievable, right? But isn't even more unbelievable that he's coaching an NBA team? I can't be alone in this. I have never been more shocked that a perrson is coaching a professional sports franchise, ever.

Well, when you're tanking for the #1 pick, sometimes a good coach can get in the way.

That'd be almost as unbelievable as A&M football dumping RC Slocum for Dennis Franchione.

Now it all makes perfect sense.

when my dad and i saw that Barone was taking over for Memphis the rest of the year....it completely shocked us. isn't this the same team run by Jerry West?...its just amazing.

Jerry West isn't stupid. He sees Oden/Durrant as #1 and #2 this offseason.

1. They play no defense under Barone
2. With them playing no D, they keep losing and will end up with Durant or Oden this summer.
Pretty shrewd move from West.
