Both played next to superstar Spur big men, Duncan and Robinson.

Both times Pop thought they were the answer.

But . . .

Who was worse?

charles smith was too old when he arrived to S.A.he was a hell of a player in his primes days in NY.
IŽd say elson is the worse .

Herrera's hook shot was actually pretty decent.

I'd say Oberto/Elson. Uh... hard to say. Charles Smith, as others have said, wasn't terrible once upon a time. Hard to play with no cartiledge in your knees.

It's not even funny how bad Oberto and Elson are. Seriously, I laugh at bad players, but you can't even LAUGH at them. They've got to be trying to be this bad. They've got to.

Charles Smith's only good game with the Spurs was the first full game he played (his first game he only played in the second half as the trade was held up).

He had 14-7-5 blocks.

That was the brightest spot in a sea of feces that followed.

At the time of the trade, I was furious. I heard about it the next morning, when someone asked me about the trade the Spurs made for the Knicks foward. I instantly got excited, as it was news to me.

"Oakley! The Spurs got Oakley!?! Holy shit, I've been telling people for months that Robinson needs an big next to him who can rebound and play tough!"

Then the hope crashed when they told me, "No, they traded for Charles Smith!"

That's when I blew up. "What the fuck is Pop thinking! Even if Charles Smith wasn't a soft no-rebounding disappointment, that guy has health problems like you wouldn't believe! The guy lost his starting job for a reason. That sucks!"

Sounds like another Spur I know . . .

Another Spur who fits into that category is JR Reid. In his first game with the Spurs he had 15 points, 15 rebounds and three blocks.

Then it was all down hill.
