Nov. 10, 2004--The National Basketball Referees Association (NBRA) today announced the launch of its newly developed website at www.nbarefs.org. This is the Association's first website and it was developed to keep its members informed about matters within the Association, NBA officiating, and officiating in other professional sports leagues. The site will also serve as a resource for visitors interested in learning the steps needed to become an NBA referee, as well as for fans interested in learning more about NBA referees.

Lamell McMorris, the Association's spokesperson and CEO of the DC-based consulting firm Perennial Strategy Group said, "With the start of the 2004-2005 NBA season we wanted to create a 'virtual meeting place' for the referees to communicate and be kept apprised about matters within the Association. We also wanted to make the site attractive to basketball and officiating fans, including individuals who are interested in learning what it takes to become a referee in the NBA."

Highlights of the NBRA website include:

-- Home Page welcomes visitors to the site and provides a feature story and a few fast facts regarding the NBRA and its members.

-- News contains current and archived news releases and articles about the NBRA, its members, NBA officiating, and professional basketball.

-- About describes the history of the NBRA.

-- Roster includes biographical information about all the members.

-- Hot Topic allows us to highlight new or complicated officiating rules.

-- Training provides information and hyperlinks to referee training camps.

-- Links offers hyperlinks to other sports officiating sites and associations.

-- Members is a password-protected portion of the site that is intended exclusively for NBRA members.

The National Basketball Referees Association represents 62 active and 14 retired referees who officiate all of the games for the National Basketball Association.
