Walzem Rd is getting a Fucking Starbucks Dammit!! Yea that's right, they're making it out of the old Burger King right at the corner. Now, I've always said that Walzem could get one, I'm mean hell all of us aren't poor who live out here. Oh yea, and something big is suppose to happen to Windsor Park Mall too, but that's yet to be disclosed till March.

Right where the burger king use to be, which is right across the street from Windsor Park Mall. It'll basically be right off 35 almost. As "ghetto" as walzem is, it's hard to believe but it's coming from a real good source. Starbucks is one of those franchises that's real particular about where they build. Whatever's going into Windsor Park Mall I'm sure played vital to them deciding on building there.

For Walzem that's big news. Next we need Buddy whatshisface to talk about how Walzem is going to supplant Rodeo Drive.

Lewis Black's bit about a Starbucks directly across the street from a Starbucks is classic.

Those of you with Sirius have no doubt heard it several times this week.

Walzem is far from ghetto. I liked living over there.

I'll be more suprised if one goes up next to the Shell at the corner of MLK and Pecan Valley.

Many people are saying Windcrest's very secretive Project Castle has to do with Windsor Park Mall. They're saying the city of SA will let Windcrest annex the shut down mall and its surrounding land and turn it into a large shopping center (a la the Forum).

My mom said she thought Starbucks tastes like it's burnt just like the article.

And I'm officially declaring Walgreens as the new Starbucks. There's one on every corner it seems.

If I'm drinking regular coffee, i take it black. I've never had a regular coffee from Charbucks (ha!). I get a cappuccino and do add sweetner to it, so I guess it would be hard to tell.

Walzem has been ghetto for at LEAST 15 years. I think that's about when peeps started getting stabbed and/or shot at the VIA Park and Ride at WPM.

Great about Starbucks, but WTF is up with BK? They've been folding like cheap card tables all over town for the past 5 years...

My first job out of HS was at the BK on Rittiman which is miraculously still open. I haven't set foot in a BK since then. Just the thought of their food after the 10 month sentence I put in there makes me almost violently ill.

Dunno what happened to them though, the franchise I worked for had all kinds of expansion plans back then...apparently they fell through.

(On a related note, the 10 months of hell I spent at BK led to my first REAL job...the store manager at Bizmart on Walzem mentioned the fact that his first job as a teenager was at BK, and he said he couldn't take a week of it so he liked my "stick-to-it-iveness" :lol )

Hate to break it to you, but it probably comes from the same warehouse. :spin

I don't drink SBUX regular coffee, just Lattes when I'm running late occasionally. They're good, but expensive. I make my own at home, one of the few people who actually uses their Espresso machines. I think I got bored once, and calculated that my daily dose costs me like 30 cents, and that may have been before I started to buy my coffee at Costco, 8.99 for 2.5 lbs of GOOD fiar trade on the bean coffee.

whats is funny is that 15years ago windsor park mall was were the rich folks hung out...........now its the new "eastside"......you know, dark even in the daytime. :fro
Fifteen years ago was 1992. No, rich folks did not hang out at Windsor Park Mall in 1992, unless by "rich" you mean "people who don't wear V-neck undershirts with stains on the front out in public" or "people whose cars do not have at least one fender painted primer gray."

Which might be what you mean.

In 82-83 I was in 8th grade also...what a coinkydinks.

WPM had its' day, but it was a very shortlived day because Ingram Park opened not too long afterwards and that's where all the rich folks went before they remodeled North Star.

My one claim to fame in life was the day I had the high score on all 5 Galaga machines in WPM (3 at Aladdin's Castle, 1 in the theater lobby, and 1 in that little arcade outside of Monkey Wards) at the same time. I should have just offed myself at 15 because it's been all downhill from there...
