Aggies have not given up 70 pts all year. What makes you think Texas can score 70 in our house?

One day of rest is enough for this team, because Billy's players have the good habit of being focussed on the task at hand. They will be mentally ready and let the Kansas win fade in their memories by tonight. Texas also played on Saturday, so it is pretty even as far as rest, and we all know that you mentally recover faster after a win than a loss.

I think Durrant will be allowed to get his 25pts, but the Aggies will contain the rest of the team, and will win by 8 or more to cover spread.

Because Aggies are at home, I have a great feeling about this game. Durant vs. Acie in final 5 minutes (if it's a close one) could be fun to watch. Durant was incredibly clutch against OSU this year (even though they lost) and we all know what God - whoops, I mean Acie - can do.

atm is a better team, but they don't have a player that can match up with Durant. Couple that with the fact that UT is coming off a rough loss and the aggs could be punch drunk with the win that defines their season. Should be a great game.

This one will be tough, after losing a tough game to K State at home we really need to rebound with a W. However, playing at reed arena is very difficult and I haven't seen the type of defense from this team needed to win a game like this on the road.

I think we will keep it close for a while, but in the end a&m's defense and rebounding will win the game for them.

I will be mad if this ends up being a blowout, I just want to see the young babies put up a fight, play with heart, never give up even if it IS a blowout--in essence, I want them to play like aggies

even if they lose, they should just keep playing

I completely agree. Problem is, A&M is one of the five best teams in the country and UT isn't. KD will get his 25 and 12, but the midgets are gonna get shut down by that filthy Ag perimeter D. I'll take UT and the +7, but I see a 60-55 loss when the Horns go 2-17 from behind the three point line.

Law IV's the real deal. Some team drafting at the bottom of the first round is going to get a steal next season.

JGW you should be at least partly happy with the outcome thus far

You and I both know that the refs will be forced to call it much less tight in the second half--else A&M's starters will foul out in like 7-10 minutes. So what is going to happen is they loosen up on the perimeter calls, giving A&M a huge edge with their physical D. I expect them to lock us down cold if this happens. But Durant will still get his no matter what, so he is the true X factor...if he demands the ball and drives it constantly you guys are fucked.

johngateswhiteley

if he demands the ball and drives it constantly you guys are fucked.

whatever, blind person. he is 3-10 shooting at the half with the refs being uber-sensitive. if A&M is allowed to play this game is a cake walk.

Cant_Be_Faded
02-05-2007, 10:20 PM
Durant is going to get his foul calls no matter what, and whether you want to pull the ref card when this game is taking place at college station or not, skinny people do get fouled hella easy, he just has the star power to warrant the foul calls.

But theres no fucking way the refs call it this tight in respects to the other players on the floor....AJ, DJ, all are gonna be pwnt
Durant has to completely take over for us to pull it out

RonMexico
02-05-2007, 10:27 PM
When Augustin has 10 pts with 10-10 FTs, then something is a little wrong. Although, if we hit the front end of a damn 1-and-1, then it would probably be about a 10 point lead. I don't mind if they call it tight, because A&M will have to learn to adjust to such a game in the tournament if such a situation arises, but they need to make it even.

We're much more physical, so the opponents will get to the line more, but 10+ FT attempts by UT and those terrible non-continuation calls are inexcusable. I don't understand how that AK play wasn't continuation and how Bryan Davis wasn't fouled on that Durant swipe (could have been clean, but the refs have been so sensitive that it wasn't consistent).

johngateswhiteley
02-05-2007, 10:34 PM
...i haven't seen a game this lopsided since the Spurs played the lakers back during the lakers 3peat. A&M is shooting over 50% while t.u. is in the 30s. if this game was anything resembling fair A&M would be up by about 20.

however, when the Ags win this game...we'll know t.u. got every break possible and still beat their ass.

Durant should be the #1 pick, no question about it. His superstar status with the refs has already spilled over to the entire UT team. Really though, the refs have been very tight with the Aggies' post players the last 2 games and they still won both games somehow. If the refs let A&M play physical in the tournament then they will be as tough to beat as anyone in the country, bar none. Durant is the best player in the country, though. It's really not even close. He didn't have a great game aside from a run early in the 2nd half and still put up numbers against the best D in the land.

Looked bleak when Kirk and Jones fouled out, and Acie was hobbled, but Bryan Davis grew up right before my eyes, and just played outstanding. The foul trouble by Kirk and AK was a blessing in disguise, because Sloan, Carter and Davis showed me and coach G that the Ags will be in great shape this season and next when he has to trust someone other than Acie and JJ to carry this team when needed. Sloan looked fantastic and did a great job guarding Durrant late in 2nd half, despite giving up at least 8 inches to him.

I could not talk after the game, because of all the yelling I was doing at the refs. The game was called horribly, and I thought I was in Austin....now I know what everyone in the ACC has had to deal with with Duke's preferentuial treatment the last 15 yrs....unbelievable.

people keep talking about Durant's game against A&M, but what is more impressive:

1. 39 mins -- 9-23 fgs -- 6-10 fts -- 15 rebs -- 3 assists -- 28 points
2. 37 mins -- 7-11 fgs -- 4-5 fts -- 3 rebs -- 15 assists -21 points

to be honest, i'd say it was a wash...maybe a slight edge to Acie cause he only took 11 fga. i thought it was interesting how an analyst (maybe it was Katz) said Acie might give Durant a run for his money on big 12 player of the year. that would be hilarious if after all this pub Durant didn't even win the player award in his own conference.

If Ags win conference with 12-2 or 13-3 record(sweep UT) and UT finishes 4th...there is no way that Acie will not win POY in Big 12

Now, that does not mean that Durrant will not win POY in country or that he is not a better player than Acie(he is) but Acie should win POY if the above comes to fruition.

Acie is good...VERY GOOD.....But, if Durant continues to hold averages of 30+ ppg and 12+rpg, then it might be difficult for Acie to win. Now, if t.u. fails to place in the top 3 or 4, ACIE has a good chance, assuming A&M still holds the 1 or 2 spot. As shown last night, A&M's huge advantage turned out to be the bench. Look at the bench scoring.

Great point Jim. The freshman class came to play tonight in a huge game. They showed why they were highly touted when they committed. Sloan is especially impressive to me with his toughness. He's not afraid of anyone or anything and I think they said he was once a boxer, so that would explain it.

Davis finally looks like he is beginning to understand the system and is looking like he's ready to step up. I'm looking forward to seeing him develop in the coming years.

I also hope that Joseph Jones comes back next year just so we can have Jones, Davis, and DeAndre Jordan as our bigs next year.

anyone else heard about the a&m home statkeeping? they've been discussing it on the afternoon show on 1300 here in austin - UT officials reviewed this game and took 8 assists away from UT. a&m averages 22 assists a game at home and 10 on the road. a&m kicked the shit out of UT any way you slice it, but it would seem like their home statisticians need some extended training.

anyone else heard about the a&m home statkeeping? they've been discussing it on the afternoon show on 1300 here in austin - UT officials reviewed this game and took 8 assists away from UT. a&m averages 22 assists a game at home and 10 on the road. a&m kicked the shit out of UT any way you slice it, but it would seem like their home statisticians need some extended training.

:lol

A friend of my father's is a supervisor of officials for the Big East. He got ahold of the game tape from that game and broke it down. He said two assists shouldn't have been ruled as such (one for each team), and there were three more questionable ones (two for tu, one for A&M) that could have gone every way (the letter of the rule on assists is pretty vague).

Give credit to the tu sports information department though. Instead of everyone in Austin focusing on the fact Barnes got his ass kicked by 18, they are stuck on assistgate.

Nice misdirection :lol

By the way, the reason for our assist #s on the road vs. at home is our style of play. On the road we try to take the crowd out of it and do a lot more iso sets, particularly to Jones and AK inside.

At home, we try and get out and run more to get the crowd into it and get the home court advantage rocking.

But, like I said, it's a nice way to deflect attention from the fact that in three years Billy has caught up to what Barnes has been working on for the last 7.

no one is claiming anything like that. ut's officials took 8 assists away from their own team, and the assist differential is quite substantial - the results aren't, which of course begs the question. i had a hard time finding anything about it online, i only heard it on the radio, pre-empted by saying they are taking nothing away from the ag hoops program, which is a solid top 10 team. btw, one of the broadcast team is an aggie, the other a UT fan. drop the tu shit, it's puerile.
