As a student, which city would be best to live in for a couple of years.. Tucson, Arizona or Reno, Nevada? If anyone lives in these areas can you tell me a little about it?

I live in Tucson for a year...granted it's been 10 years since I lived there.

I think it's pretty, but there's not much to do. Once you leave Tucson, that's it. And it's about 100 miles to Phoenix. However, when I lived there, I had a one year old and 3 year old. So as far as night life, I couldn't tell you about that.

Now as humid as it is here...it's extremely dry there. Think single digit humidity and dew points. Your skin will be extremely dry!

AZ has awesome thunderstorms! I have never seen lightning like the kind I did in Tucson.

Arizona is actually awesome but not Tucson. :lol

There's pretty much nothing to do in Tucson. I'd choose Reno hands down. There's mountains, lake, skiing. Better weather. (And gambling, if you do that.)

I lived in Reno and have been back there to visit on my way to Lake Tahoe.

It is beautiful there and you are just a short trip away fro Lake Tahoe. The drive up into the mountains is very scenic, as you can see the Truckee River flowing down the mountain and it is crystal clear. You have Virginia City to visit too, it is a cool town to go to to shop and hang out.

I love the area myself.

Go for it.

When I visited Reno it was pretty nice. It has lake tahoe, nice night life, and the weather is not to bad either (occasional cold winters). Also while there me and friends drove to san francisco, which was only about 2 hours away. Go with reno!!

I lived in Tucson for 8 years, I was going to go to the U of A (and still may when its time to apply to pharmacy school) so I'm bias towards that place. But, I did enjoy my time there the air was clean and yeah it was hot, but it is true what they say it's a dry heat. To me I can deal with that much more than the humidity here.

I can't wait for the Reno 911 movie...

Have you ever seen Coming To America?

My answer is: Whatever city you like.

EDIT: Those guys are totally creepy, I'll protect you from all of them, please keep in mind Jim takes advantage of his patients when they are under...

Ok- Tucson has a pretty cool 'college' life. Real liberal like Austin. 4th street is where it's at. Phoenix... blehh. It's ok. Reno is beautiful. Great place.

I'd choose Reno over Tucson. It is cold in the winter there though. Beautiful scenery nearby with lots of outdoor activities.

I've lived in Kansas City, MO San Antonio, Socal and Tucson and Tucson is easily my second favorite behind San Antonio. Downtown has a lot going on by the university, the mountains and ski resorts are less than an hour away, Phoenix is up the road and I've never seen sunsets or lightning storms like this city has. There's not very much trouble or anything here and the people are pretty nice, theres a few big casinos not too far away which always have a lot of concers and big names. For now there's not much to do at night, but there are a few new nightclubs I hear are pretty crazy opening but other than that I usually just go party around the colleges. I cant speak about Reno as I've never been there, but if you want a laid back place where you're not too far away from everything Tucson is the place.

LuvBones

Thanks for the input! This is a tough decision... I'm leaning more towards Tucson but I have plenty of time to think about it. :)

I really liked it the year I lived there. We drive through Tucson on our way to CA, and it has really grown a lot. We used to live off the Cotero Farms exit and it's totally different now.

My husband did his residency there at the VA and he used to have to drive down to Sells all the time. We do have some cool baskets from the Tohono O'odham reservation.
