It's the Warriors, everyone is encouraged to shoot. Also, Jack was one of the best at moving without the ball and finding the open area for the Spurs. He would feed the post and make meaningful cuts off of Timmy which I hardly see any Spur do now days. Finding space and the right spot on the floor is what lead to the billion 3's he made during critical games. No good at moving without the ball? What a load of shit.

After his involvement in the Palace Brawl I kind of lost respect for him.

Well supposedly that's why the pacers got rid of him. The team was having a lot of back lash from the fans due to things like the brawl and the strip club shooting. They didn't want him to have a negative influence on their stud Danny Granger.

That's the key right there.

Dude would have still been a huge and consistent contributer to the team had he stayed. A definite upgrade over the Barry/Finley combo - for roughly the same cost. It's funny that the Spurs have yet to replace the overall combination of skills (physical and mental) that Jax brought to the team. Sure Finley and Barry can shoot it, but neither is the defensive gem that Jax is.

Adding a period to a year old post, in addition to reminding everyone how thoroughly you got owned in this thread, proves conclusively that in one average game (bolstered by a strong ot), Sjax proved he is a better overall player than Manu Ginobili.

Last night was typical SJax, LOTS of shots, a low %age, almost nothing else in his stat line 3 RB/TO/AST.

SJax hits a 3 at a key point, and everybody gets stars in their eyes.

SJax took more shots than anybody on either team and shot a lower FG%.
Manu and Michael shot better 3G%.

if we were just going to bring manu off the bench all these years anyway, why did we let sjax go?

It came down to $$$, as usual. Jax and his agent felt they could get more on the open market. In the end, Jax took less money to go to ATL. While there, he amassed career high averages in various personal categories including scoring and rebounding. He parlayed that successful 1-year stint into a multi-year, mid-level deal with Indiana. Of course, his time in IND was marred by the "malace at the Palace".

All that said, I still wish Jax was here. The Spurs could've sure used another cold-blooded killer, like Jax, to run besides Manu on most nights. Strange in how with all the guys they've run through town (Turkoglu, Finley, Barry, Brown) they've never fully replaced Jax's contributions. The mystery of the "long three" still remains.

Not the Bobcats centre, surely? He helped us to a title in 05, sure, but I don't think he did anything after that. Decent rebounder with stone hands and the basketball IQ of a goat... I'll take the guy who shone inthe last championship, thanks (backed up by the current crop, and Tiago/Ian next year). Centre is NOT our problem. The wings are.
