Nebraska Cornhuskers (2-5, 13-8) vs Texas Tech Red Raiders (4-4, 15-8)
United Spirit Center, Lubbock (7pm tonight)

NEB TTU
Points Per Game: 68.9, 72
Points Allowed: 61.9, 67.52
Field Goal %: 48.5, 45.9
Rebounds Per Game: 28.8, 31.8

Watch out for flying chairs. Nebraska is entering the Knight's den. Texas Tech is 10-2 at home this season, with wins over Top 10 teams Kansas and Texas A&M, and losses to UNLV and Texas. Lets hope Nebraska is being overlooked tonight.

Now my biggest decision is whether to pay the $14.95 to subscribe to ESPN Full Court for one day.

Other Conference Games today:
Missouri at Iowa State

NU opened up to an early 5-0 lead, was down 13 at halftime, is now within 6 with 15 minutes to play. It's church night in Lubbock as the crowd is somewhere around 3-4,000.

Even before this game, can somebody explain why TT is viewed as a lock for the tournament?

The Big 12 may only get 5 at this point, but it's not gonna be KSU or Okie Lite that gets left out.

Tech before this game was on the way out of the tournament. They are now a lock for not getting in and have to work to stay in the NIT, IMHO.

If Nebraska plays good ball for the rest of the season, a 9-7 or 8-8 conference record is quite possible, and with a win or two in the conference tourney could find themselves a bubble team. Still way far off, but far from impossible.

well after beating two top 10 teams back2back, they have completely fallen apart. nobody saw this coming.

as for k-state, i am glad the Ags don't have to play them again....they are playing very well right now. can't wait to see them play kansas tomorrow. though, i don't think you beat them in Lawrence....maybe in Manhattan.

Assuming that Nebraska loses in Lawrence, they probably have to win every other game left on their schedule to make the bubble. 9-7 won't make it in the Big 12 this season. 8-8 definitely won't.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. Weird thing that you southerners may not be aware of, K-State hasn't beaten KU at home since the early 80s (and never in Bramlage coliseum). We do have a few wins in Lawrence since then (including 1 last year). Actually, I guess it's not that weird, KU has been signficantly better than K-State since the late 80s.

The local press is billing this game as the first relevant match-up between these two teams since 1988. I would argue that there were a couple of big games as recently as 1996 (both won by KU), but it's not that far off.

1988... didn't you guys have that white PG that we all thought looked like a hamster back then? He was pretty decent if I recall... what was his name?

They also have the #1 recruiting class coming in next year.

Things are looking pretty bright in Manhatten, Kansas I'd say.

Steve Henson?

He's come into K-State with a far cleaner record than Eddie Sutton did to Okie State.

Yeah! That's it. Henson the hamster. Those ktek teams were pretty decent.

They are equal in DUIs for sure. Huggy is well known for recruiting thugs (see Kenyon Martin). But hey, whatever works. He's a good coach, no doubt.

Kenyon Martin = huge thug. Even though he has never been arrested and you never hear about him off the court. Plus, he worked himself from an unheralded recruit who averaged 2 pts/game as a frosh to the nat'l player of the year as a senior.

Man, I'd hate to have guys on my team like that.

So now you are taking up for Mr. Disgruntled himself as a model citizen.

Keep telling yourslef that and it might even be true.

What's the over/under on KSU being put on probation? 3 years?

Not saying he's a model citizen, I don't know the man.

But you're basing your thug statement on a headband and some tats. What has he ever done off the court to lead you to call him a thug?

Seeing as how we have pretty much involved the NCAA in our recruitment of every commitment just to prevent even the slightest hint of impropriety, I dare say that no other school in the conference is as safe from the NCAA's hammer as K-State is.

Look, I don't want to explain everything to you. Do a google for Huggins and thug or something like that, you might find a few with opinions like mine.

I would say that ya'll are pretty safe, but i wouldn't paint it so rosie like that. I believe Huggy is being watched very carefully; most likley closest by his own school.

You might want to google him as well. In his whole tenure at Cincy, he was cited for violations once, and it was a lesser violation than what Bill Self and KU got hit with this past offseason, which didn't even make national news.

I'll agree that the character of some of his cincy players has been iffy (although I wouldn't put KMart in that group), but I have yet to see that with anybody here and won't worry about it until I do. There's not a coach in this conference that wouldn't take Michael Beasley or Bill Walker on their team.

Given the baggage that Curry came into OSU with, I would think you'd be holding your tongue...

Curry sold dope. Allen was a thug. Boggan was a fatty. They all got a one-and-done 2nd chance and none were a problem in school, whereas his players became problems while IN school.

...and KMart has ALWAYS been KMart.

I never said you have any problems, however, issues always seem to rise back up (Eddie's drinking, Knight's man handling kids, just as examples). I'm saying the AD is going to keep a close eye on him, as well they should IMO.
