he is just a little unpopular on the streets because he is not from the hood. but I doub't he's hated.

Most of the TP hate on this board comes from Argentineans or people who love Manu. For some reason, they think they can't like both.

Texans love Tony. In general, he's a big Spurs fan favorite here in San Antonio.

I don't and never have understood the hate for Tony. He is very good. Yes, he's not Steve Nash or Magic. However, I'd rather have Tony as the Spurs point than a lot of other PG's in the league.

Reading comprehension: I didn't say all people who like Manu or all people who are Argentineans hate Parker. I said the hate generally comes from Manu fans and Argentineans, which is true.

"they" = "haters" not Argentineans or Manu fans.

And Sequ loves Manu. If you haven't figured it out - it's an act.

Ducks on the other hand has no logic to his hate. He hate LeBron because he's good. I'm guessing the same holds for Manu.

people look at TP and Manu as two rivals, in a race to become the second weapon of the team beside TD..
When TP scores +20 points, the Manu's fans use to react like ''God dammit! he scored more points than Manu''
The same for TP's fans....
I was just wondering if this rivalry only concerns fans or do TP and Manu also feel like they compete for the lieutenant crown

They don't. They love each other and don't see it as a competition against each other at all. They are both playing with the same goal - to win.

No way. manu and tony don't compete because their on the same team and they're both team players.

They are very different players and each one should be utilized differently. Tony is a bulk scorer and should handle the ball most of the game. Manu, well Manu is "Ginobiliiiii" when it really matters, we will count on him to carry the team to victory or die trying.

Duncan is the engine, without the engine we don't go anywhere.

BTW if Tony and MAnu played for a new york team, this city would be crazy about both of them with our big hispanic and european ex-pat populations. They would be celebs(although tp is a celeb by association already). which makes me realize how stupid Isiah is for not going after foreign players in this diverse market. Plus they would probably play better D than the Knicks current US roster. It appears to me that the Frederic Weiss debacle put them off all foreign players. I actually think that has been their biggest mistake besides overpaying for every past their peak player.

Actually growing up in VA, I was a big DRob fan and I used to watch all of the televised Naval Academy games during his time there and my interest trickled over to the Spurs when he joined. Became a serious Spurs homer when they got TD. I've been a huge fan of TD since he came in the ACC as a 17 year old and dominated...plus my wife went to Wake Forest. Wake Forest has brought me many joys in life...LOL

I get out to New York about every six weeks to work with some customers and it blows my mind how many Spurs fans there are in that city.It seems like everytime I would go to a bar to watch the game I would end up at a table with about 10 other people from new york who loved the spurs. they cited the same reasons as you for liking the spurs. They all thought it was funny that the team who embraced the foreign players was in San Antonio. I also noticed there is a lot of Nicks fans who seem to not really support the team because they feel the orginization is screwed up. They all told me that until they cleaned house and straigtened out the front office they really were not going to be interested in them. Is that actually the majority opinion?

I go to NY about once a month and I've seen people wearing Manu's jersey more than any other Spurs jersey. I have a feeling he would be a fan favorite in pretty much any city he played for, but especially cities with a large Spanish-speaking population.

Most people have no idea where Mauritius is, unless they're into scuba diving or big game fishing.

Hopefully you'll know where Madagascar is after the disney (?) animation - I'm sure lots of people hadn't heard of it either, until that cartoon.

I'll be moving to France in two month's time, so I hope i'll be able to watch more basketball thanks to the smaller time difference!

I must admit I was not a Spurs fan before they draft Parker. As many people here in France I used to be a Jordan fan with a Bulls uniform :oops
But I was already a DRob fan. And I always admired TD "Big Fundamentals" (even if his game could sometime be a little more sexy :p: ).
About TP vs. Manu I think both are great. Manu brings something unique to the game. He really is a special player.

i was born in nebraska.
i live in north webster, indiana, but i'm moving to chicago to start grad school in the fall.
spurs fan since the early nineties. as a fourth grader, i arbitrarily decided david robinson was my favorite player, and so i latched onto the spurs.
looking back, i see that a mighty, benevolent force was guiding my decision.

also, shanna zolman of the san antonio silver stars went to my high school. she was a year behind me. she's a local legend. i interviewed her for the school paper when i was a junior.
not that i have any use for the wnba.

The very northern part of Maine. Very rural.

I've lived in many other places, though. My favorite? Chicago.

I've moved about every two years since the late 1990s, and that trend will probably continue. I tend to live in a rural place, then go to an urban place, and back to a rural place, etc.

I'm from the Killeen/Ft. Hood area but living in Alexandria, Virginia where it's 22 and snowing at 1:00 PM.

I´m from sunny germany near frankfurt/main where it´s 22 ° Celsius (72 Fahrenheit) - at the end of the week it´ll be 28 ° celsius (80 Fahrenheit)

we had such a nonexistent winter here i´m starting to get afraid of the change in clima - i´m no hippy but something has to be done cause the weather has changed so rapidly here the last 5 years - if it continues like that we´ll be like greece in 10 years

15 to 20 years ago as i was a child there was snow for at least 3-4 month in winter - this one there was snow for about 2 weeks combined - but that´s a story for another board i guess

Born and raised in rural, central Illinois, where there was/is little to do except play videogames, be outdoors, and play or watch sports all week. Thank you, internet, for keeping humanity inside and cooped up where it belongs!

I only had two teams back in the day when I started following basketball seriously. The Boston Celtics from my family (my father was incredibly adamant about Larry Bird being the G.o.a.T.) and the Spurs because of the incredible level of respect I had even as a younger boy for David Robinson. I tried watching him (mostly unsuccessfully) in college, and when he hit the pros, I was just amazed. The guy is still a tank, and the Spurs gained my respect as the best organization in basketball, if not all of sports. I love their class. =)

New Braunfels is a popular Texas tourist town that was founded in 1845 by Prince Carl of Solms-Braunfels region of Germany and a group of German farmers and craftsmen. German names can be seen on the billboards and street names throughout the city. http://www.newbraunfels-tx.net/

I was born in Rhode Island, Red Sox was all I heard growing up. Along with the Patriots and the Celtics. All Mass. teams, RI isn't big enough to have their own!

I've since lived in upstate New York, Southern California, Northern California, and a little town called DuPont outside of Seattle. Back in Southern California now. Lakers all over my newspaper, but I'm used to not getting Spurs coverage. Thank God for the net.
