looking at Samsung 225BW, Panasonic VX2245wm. Considered Dell, but their 22" doesn't have DVI inputs - recommendations? any input is appreciated.

I have the 225BW, and I'll be honest when I say I'm not overly happy with it. There are blacklight bleed issues on the top and bottom. That only really matters when you're watching things on it that are dark. I play some video games that are in dark scenes and the bleeding of the blacklight shows up quite a bit.

This is something that they may have fixed since I got mine considering I got mine shortly after they were introduced. I can't think of the company, but there was another one that was pretty slick and was about the same price, but I cant' remember the company.

Either way you should be able to find the Samsung much cheaper than the Dells and probably the Panasonic as well. If you're just going to use it for office type work, then I say go with the cheapest because they should all be fine.

thanks, i'll check out both of those models - they are both rated fairly well at newegg. i don't play too many games anymore, but i may since i got a new system for christmas. mainly getting the new display to be able to put my desk closer to the wall. i love my trinitron 19", but it's huuuge.

the 30" apple is 2k, bit much for me. even with my 25% discount it's too much. :lol

Yeah, they're both pushing 2k which is why I never got one but they would be perfect for my work so I could write them off. Still, the prices are extremely steep so its hard to justify it as opposed to just going with another monitor.

why dont you go for a 42 inch lcd screen for tv/pc use

thats the trend i see these days in some of my mates places, they play games in the lounge room on the main house lcd.....whether its a good or bad idea, but still nothing beats it

the Dell 20.1" 2007WFP 20-inch and 24" 2407WFP 24-inch both have DVI inputs.

I got my 20.1" at the dell factory outlet for under $300 w/ free shipping a while back, and am completely satisfied.

i don't want my pc in the living room where my daughter can get at it, and my wife has begged me for no video games in the living room. i would rather she not get at any controllers either. my 36" toshiba cinema series in the living room still works great, not ready to upgrade for a few more years. i'm gonna upgrade my stereo system after the monitor.

30 inch monitor is better than an LCD TV because it has a much higher resolution setting. The one I have now is fine for gaming and its only 22 inch; I want the 30 inch for work (although gaming on it would be sweet).

Good choice. If I could go back and get it I would. Its not that I don't like the Samsung, its just that the Viewsonic is simply better.

And? I don't care where it comes form as long as it works well. The Samsung has light bleed issues. The Viewsonics don't.
