WOOHOO! I love Theo's game! The Blazers will be holding a press conference at 2pm Pacific time to announce that they've signed Theo Ratliff to a contract extension.

That's the biggest non-news of the week.

You'll be lucky if Theo stays healthy for half of your games.

Congratulations!

I think a signing of that magnitude easily secures Portland the 9th seed for the 2005 Western Conference playoffs!!

Hopefully he signed for less than he was making.

Theo was definitely overpaid on his old contract. He blocks shots, and rebounds. That's it. He and Camby are the same player, right down to china-doll status.

FRIKKIN' HATERS in this forum!

What?

Can it be that The Great Northwest Heckler is actually a lonely soul looking for love and approval?

Or is it only that he has just toked on a particularly nasty thai stick?

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- The Lakers signed free agent center Neil Yanke on Wednesday.

Yanke averaged 12.5 points, 6.7 rebounds and shot nearly 50 percent from the floor as a Yale senior during the 2000-01 season.

The 6-foot-11 Yanke finished his college career second on Yale's career shot blocking list with 105, trailing former NBA player Chris Dudley by one.

Theo is a solid player. Certainly one of the best low post defenders in the game. He lead the league in blocks last year. Following the trade, Ratliff averaged a remarkable 4.41 blocks in 32 games with the Blazers. Behind Yao and Miller of course, Theo challenges Maglore as the third best center in the west. The guy actually played 85 games last year! Although I think the contract is too long. In five years he will be more taped up than Patrick Ewing was at the end of his career. But at this point the Blazers don't have a lot of choices. I seriously doubt he would have signed an extension for 3 years. With 4 huge contracts expiring at the end of this year Theo is the one guy they want to keep.
