Senior Mario Boggan (Oklahoma State), sophomore Josh Carter (Texas A&M) and freshman D.J. Augustin (Texas) have been chosen as Phillips 66 Big 12 Men's Basketball Players and Rookie of the Week for games of Feb. 5 - 12 in voting by a panel of media covering the conference. Boggan earns his fourth honor of 2006-07, while Carter is picked for the second time. Augustin captures his third rookie accolade.


PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Mario Boggan, Oklahoma State, F, Sr., 6-7, 235, Durham, N.C./Chipola College
Boggan averaged 27.5 points and 12.5 rebounds as Oklahoma State split two games last week. The senior forward started with 20 points and 11 boards in a 67-60 loss at Oklahoma. He followed with his fourth 30-point effort of the season, finishing with 35 points and 14 rebounds in a 93-91 double-overtime win over Texas Tech. He was 11-of-18 in the game, including a conventional 3-point play with 4.1 seconds remaining for the win. He shot 57.1 percent (20-of-35) from the floor in two games, while hitting 12-of-16 (.750) from the free throw line.


Josh Carter, Texas A&M, F, So., 6-5, 195, Dallas, Texas/Lake Highlands
Carter had 25.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game as Texas A&M defeated Texas (100-82) and Nebraska (66-55). The sophomore started with 25 points, a career-high 10 rebounds and five assists versus the Longhorns. He continued his strong play with 26 points versus the Huskers, with five boards and a career-best three blocks. He made 8-of-11 shots from 3-point range against NU, the third time this year he has tied the school-record for 3-pointers.


ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

D.J. Augustin, Texas, G, Fr., 5-11, 175, New Orleans, La./Brother Martin
Augustin captures the eighth rookie honor by a UT player this season after averaging 27.0 points and 5.5 assists in a 1-1 week for Texas. The freshman guard had 23 points to go along with five assists in the loss at Texas A&M. He then had a carer-high 31 points with six assists and four steals in a 77-68 tally over Iowa State. In the ISU game, he matched the school-record for free throw percentage by going 10-of-10 from the line. In two games, he was 14-of-24 (.583) from the field and 22-of-23 (.956) from the charity stripe.
