Twin Towers Re-Visited

Watching tonights game and last night against the Heat, I can't help but be reminded of Tim and Drob as the Towers. The way the defense would force the player baseline and tim and dave would meet them at the basket and look like a bunch of trees. Even when they weren't blocking shots, they either altered them or forced bad passes to the perimeter.

I don't remember seeing this last year. Granted, the spurs still seemed to try and force their guy along the baseline, but Tim and Rasho weren't there at the same time clogging the lane/blocking the basket like they have been the last couple of games.

What I saw the last couple of games was Tim and Rasho both at the basket with their hands up either blocking the shot, altering the shot, or forcing bad kickouts to the perimeter.

I hope this continues.

It is pretty easy to pack the paint against this team. We can wait to declare TT2 when they (read Rasho) perform like this against a quality team with something inside.

I give credit to Rasho defensively tonight. It's the best I've seen him play.

Then again, the Spurs were against a horrible team.

The Spurs always force baseline. It's their only consistent defensive philosophy and has been ever since Pop became head coach. No variance whatsoever. Even if Tim and Rasho are pulled out by their men to the perimeter, the other three have to protect the middle and provide weakside help along the baseline, once play has been funneled there.

Rasho has been much more aggressive this year, so perhaps that is what you've noticed conversekid. It's also another year of playing together for the whole unit.

If we can get Tim and Rasho to be just a fraction of what the Twin Towers used to be.. maybe Twin Towers jr., we would be in a great position. I noticed on a few occasions when beno would miss a defensive assignment or his man would get by him, the guy would meet Tim and rasho and shoot ball too high.

Just an observation.

Um, Dwayne Wade is good, but he's not to best player on the Heat. Not anymore. there's that guy, Shaq, he's pretty good.
