I was looking at other message boards to see how fans from other teams are discussing the Ely trade.

Most are pretty complementary towards the Spurs FO on this one--some are downright pissed that their teams could not get Ely; some think that Ely could be a real brute in the paint by playoff time and could cause tons of trouble by then to their own teams.

How other basketball fans are discussing the Ely deal:

1. Laker fans: http://forums.lakersground.net/viewtopic.php?t=37191

2. Dallas Mav fans: http://www.dallas-mavs.com/vb/showthread.php?t=28819

LMAO! This from a Utah Fan Regarding Trade

Going to a team with leaders like Duncan and Popovich- with a legit shot at a ring- tends to straighten bad characters, and thin down fat guys, real quick and turn them into 10 ppg, 7 rb guys that play pivitoal roles in the playoffs...

Remember what Stephen Jackson did for them in the Finals one year? Same with Devin Brown...

That's the one crucial difference between Sloan and Pop. In Utah guys like that turn into Chris Morris and Luther Wright and die off at the end of our bench. Pop knows how to make them productive, and THEN he gets rid of their asses after they have helped him accomplish HIS goal...

It's amazing how other team's fans fear the Spurs.

NBA fans = whiners

Hadn't thought about this angle before:

From the Charlotte link....

"Michael Jordan signs off on all deals"

Kind of cool the Spurs were in negotiations with His Airness.

This was fascinating to me--after seeing all the doom and gloom here and yet, how fans from other teams--even the Mavs and the Suns--having more respect for our team and our Front Office than the majority of us have been showing in recent days.

Guys--I think we need too take a deep breath and get a grip--the world is not falling down upon us--the FO is doing everything possible to improve--lets give them props for that at the very least.

Nobody wants to do the team that has won two of the last four championships any favors. Some people think that teams with valuable players to trade are just dangling them like bait in front of RC in return for nothing.

some people seem to think that Front Offices can somehow turn their worst player(s) or exp contracts into a superstar through a trade :lol

I don't know how many beno + barry for (insert stars name) trades i have seen on this board :lol

The Front Office did a good job on making a seemingly small trade that could impact the team in a big way.

I think we're not finished yet. I would not be surprised to see Barry, Beno and Butler involved in a swap somehow.
