If you guys think the Mavs are bad, you ought to check the history of the Texas Rangers!

Oh yeah, I forgot to add, the regular season doesn't mean shit in the NBA. The Mavs are consummate chokers and will get killed in the playoffs. Dirk will choke again. Did I cover everything?

And there isn't a single person badmouthing the Mavs on these forums who wouldn't trade their team's recprd (Spurs/Suns/Pistons/Heat/Who ever) so far this season for the Mav's record so far...in like half a heartbeat.

Look, all we're saying is that your franchise had better dispel any and all of these tags on you soon. If a franchise goes this long without winning a championship it has failed as an organization. FAILED. It just shows a lack of commitment to the ultimate goal as a sports franchise. That was a tag that we had pre-99. We shook it. You can too. The time is now. You know the time is now. Hell, WE know your time is now. EVERYONE knows now is YOUR time. With that said, that monkey gets bigger and heavier and more hairy every year you DONT win a championship. If you don't win this year, the ridicule you'll feel will be unbearable to you DIEHARD fans. I'm assuming all of you are DIEHARD instead of BANDWAGON, right? Well...believe me. Us "diehard" Spurs fans? We've lived thru it. God help you if the Spurs win again.

At least the Mavs didnt ever finish with the worst record in the NBA when they had the highest payroll. The Knicks have the most embarassing teams in the history of sports. The end. Live with that. The Mavs have only been spending money for a few years and guess what, unlike the Knicks, they're winning.

The Knicks have a $100 million payroll with $20 million results. The same goes for the Yankees. Got owned by the Tigers. The Knicks WISH they we good enough to get beat badly by a team in the playoffs.

Not only are the Mavs one of the worst franchises in the NBA, they're also the worst team in Texas.

San Antonio Spurs: 3 championships
Houston Rockets: 2 championships
Dallas Chokers: LMFA0!!

Hell, Mavs can win a championship this year and they'll still be the worst basketball franchise in the state. They got quite a bit of catching up to do IMO

And how else would you like to do so? Oh yeah, the only way that makes the Spurs out to be so much better. You measure franchise success by franchise success. Thats all I was doing. Apparently, thats wrong. I don't get some of you Spurs fans. It was a simple question which no one would answer but yet everyone was quick to put every last detail of the Mavs franchise up. Makes no sense to me.

Everyone was making a big deal about how we have been in exitence for 26 years with no titles. I only wanted to know how that stacked up against other franchises with titles. Thats it...but no one wanted to step up and answer so I did it myself and the difference wasn't so big. Take it for what is worth but when the thread title says 26 years 0 titles...here is what the one about the Spurs would have said: 23 years 0 titles. See, not that big of a difference in that regard.

1. The person who started this thread is a Knicks fan.

2. This thread was started a couple weeks back. For some reason a mav fan bumped it.

You measure franchise success by franchise success.
Exactly, but comparing how many years it took for a team to win a championship is not the way to do it.

Everyone was making a big deal about how we have been in exitence for 26 years with no titles.
I don't think he was really referencing the fact that since the mavs have existed that they have no titles(although I think that's one thing the thread starter wanted to rub in). I think the point he was trying to get across was that since they've existed they haven't enjoyed any success. That's why he posted the teams history.

Its funny how Spurs fans brag that the Spurs won 3 championships with the only professional team they have. They better be good...or your city would suck even worse than it does now.

but heres a question: How many professional sports championships does Dallas have over San Antonio? A LOT more.

well spurs fans have been very spoiled even in non championship years, I could be wrong but I believe that the spurs have only had 2 losing seasons in their existense, someone please correct me if I am wrong. Some of their best teams ran in to the incredible lakers in the 80's.

As far as your other question I believe Dallas has 7 championships among their teams, unless you count the championship the stars won when they were the Minnesota north stars then it would be 8. I know this because I am a huge cowboys fans(I have season tickets and go to every game from San Antonio) I am also a pretty big stars fan, I have not really been able to get back into hockey since the strike. the strike season made me realize how unimportant it was to me.

Yeah, but the fanbase has to be in existence for at least 10-15 years or so.

That goes hand-in-hand with how the franchise treats the fans. However, these 2 things are not completely inter-related. Case-in-point: New Jersy and Miami.

Terrible fans, despite franchises trying (and succeding) in winning.

No, no, no, Celtic Pride. Spurs fans will tell you that the Spurs franchise is "waaaaaay different" and that they can't be compared that way. I already tried to do that. Lol, nice post. Lets see what kind of response you get.

Posting facts doesn't take a whole lot of basketball IQ. You get them off the internet and post em. They're facts that you can't debate and that pisses you off. All you can do is insult me and him/her.

Also, I like the fact that you think you know anything about me or what I know about basketball. Nice. And calling me a bitch...well I am female so if that makes you feel better, fine by me.

Whats to debate? Until you guys win one then you can look at it in that light. As of right now its still February and there's still a lot of basketball to be played. Nothings guaranteed.

Your right! Record season records don't do justice. I know the spurs don't have more titles than the bulls, lakers, and celts but they do have at least ONE! Not at best but at least one. At best, The mavs have 0 and spurs least is better than mavs best. So with that said, the mavs can go 73-9 this year and if they don't win it all, it will be a disgrace to their franchise and a HUGE disappointment to their fans. That is all. :toast

I think the rule should be, If your team hasn't won a championship since the creation of another team, you are not allowed to talk shit about them never having a championship. I.E. the Knicks

No. The Knicks haven't won a championship since 1973, 34 years ago. That is well before the mavericks were even being thought of as an organization. Chris is talking shit about the mavs not winning in 26 years, when it has been 34 since the Knicks last won.

How many times have the mavs gone to the finals? 1
Now how many times have the knicks gone to the finals?8
Now how many times have the mavs won a title?0
Now how many time have the knicks won a title? 2 which is 2>0 More than your team, so therefore.................

There is no logic to any of the arguments in this thread, because the greatness of a franchise shouldn't be (and usually isn't) measured by how long it took the franchise to win its first title, if it has won a title at all.

For instance, the Warriors won the first BAA/NBA title -- meaning they won a title in the first year of their existence. Applying the "logic" that has been thrown around in this thread, the Warriors own all.

By contrast, it took the Bulls 25 years to win a title and it took the Pistons 41 years to win a title.

I guess Warriors > Lakers (took them 2 years to win a title); Warriors > Celtics (11 years); Warriors > Bulls; Warriors > Spurs; and Warriors > Pistons. And Warriors definitely > Knicks. Right?

The same must be true of the Kings (won a title in their 3rd year), the Bucks (won a title in their 3rd year), the Sixers (won a title in their 6th year), the Blazers (won a title in their 7th year), the Hawks (won a title in their 9th year), and the Sonics (won a title in their 12th year).

It took them 24 years to WIN a TITLE. When was the last time the mavs done that? Oh yeah...... NEVER.

And it's not like a cowboys fan talking shit.......
The fact of the matter is that in the 26 years of the Dallas mavs existence, they have yet to win a title and probably never will.

I just believe fans of the team that don't have no success in the post-season like have no Larry O' in their Trophy case , then they can't talk shit. Stop saying this and that about the mavs when your team has 'no right' to talk shit about anyone, anything, or any group given their history. I know alot of mavs fans talk alot of crap on here and I get sick of it. They act all cocky just because their team is tops and is almost unstoppable right now just like the pistons last year and we seen what happened to them. Even though the spurs wasn't apart of the finals last season or might not be apart of it this season, the spurs fans have 'the right' to talk shit about anyone, anything, or any group given their teams' history(Trophy Case). They know how it feel to win it all, your team doesn't!
Now continue to watch the spurs and rockets go all the way as your team will NEVER win the big one. MUAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA :lol

If I were a mod I would ban anybody who was completely incapable of discussing anything other than sheer number of titles. Seriously, if you see everything in basketball in terms of black-and-white "does your franchise history have a title", then you're retarded.

The 2007 Larry O'Brien trophy is still up for grabs, so anybody has "the right" to talk about it. Man, I can't believe how obvious this is, yet some dense Knicks fans still can't comprehend it.

I know, it tooks the Knicks 24 years to win a title. It has only been 26 for the mavs and you are acting like that is the longest a team has ever gone without winning in their existance. When really the mavs are only 2 short years past what it took the knicks to win.
