PLEASE NOTE THIS IS NOT MY IDEA. It's a guy from NBAWIRE and that might have just made it up, but I thought it would be interesting to post this.

Malik Rose/Jerome James to Spurs!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rumor has it that Isiah Thomas is looking to trade with the Spurs by looking to acquire the rights to Luis Scola, Fabricio Oberto, and Beno Udrih. The Spurs organization is very excited and Elson will be the permanent starting center from now on. Isiah Thomas has agreed to buy out James' contract to open up room under the Spurs' cap. Malik Rose is very excited to come back to San Antonio as well to reunite with his old teammates. Jerome James, even though he used to hate the Spurs, is looking forward to competing with a championship caliber team. Trade is expected to happen at the end of this week. (inside source)

On another note, Manu is no longer going to be a Time Warner customer, and will be switching to Grande.

Don't see that happening but there would be a lot of happy people if Malik comes back.

Are we trying to include every inept big man on our roster at one time?

Because if we are, well, that'd be a hell of a start.

Jerome James > Oberto
I remeber everybody in the 2005 playoffs hated this guy and called him a thug.

The thing I wont' forget is how easily he dunked on Tim everytime he got the ball. The guy was so huge and he had some ferocious dunks.

Jerome James > Oberto

That's still not saying a whole hell of a lot.

I stand by my statement.

Seems like the Spurs would being giving alot for little in return...

The Manu comment at the end makes the poster on the NBA fourm lose a little cred for me

Jerome James is NOT better than Oberto. He showed up for one playoff series and got immensly overpaid. Ever since he received his payday, he's been consistently overweight and ineffective. Oberto may lack athleticism, but he's in shape and he knows where to be on the court.

Please take the blinders off (don't just look at the one series he had against the Spurs) and realize this guy is garbage. Also realize the only way that Malik comes back is if the Knicks buy him out too...

Fuck Malik. He wasn't willing to do what was asked of him the first time, and it put him in the doghouse. Let him rot on the Knicks' bench.

I don't like Oberto on this team. He's unathletic, poor rebounder, poor defender, yet hustles and plays hard. Despite how displeased I am that he's on the roster, I have to be honest. Oberto is smarter when he's asleep than Jerome James is when he's wide awake.

That would be a terrible trade if it were real. Oberto is a good 12th man, and Scola can be something great.

No to mention that the salarywise, Rose for Beno, Fab and Scola's rights doesn't work.

And even if JJ was bought out that doesn't make the Spurs under the cap as the post says. :wtf

Yeah, that too. I was just focusing on the fact it would screw up the 2008 Plan, and no way Holt would go for that, especially for the guy at the end of the bench.

Sentimentality is not going to win the Spurs a title this year Malik is completely done as a player.

In that case, I guess Manu finally got a clue. Not that I would be biased b/c they pay me or anything.

A friend was telling me about that last night. It sounded strange but I was too tired to give it a second thought till this morning.

The rodeo needs to end. :)

From the neck down, Malik is a fat jiggly, wiggly pig now, with arms, shoulders, and butt of lard, not the lean hustler of 4 years ago.

From the neck up, how can anybody forget the problems that got him kicked off the Spurs?

Typical memory tricks, remembering the only the old good, forgetting the bad, which blocks out the current bad.

Like fat Spur NVE 06 was going to be Mav NVE of playoffs 03.

Yay to Rose, though with the Ely pick up, it's gonna be a little crowded at the 4/5 spot, but an emphatic NO to James. Guy's a cancer in the locker room and has a terrible work ethic. There's a reason Seattle wanted to let him walk, and a reason NY has been shopping him.

Fortunately, I don't see this happening. Spurs won't make any more moves unless it's for a SF/long 3, like Maggette.

Rose 2007 is still better than what they have now. Spurs fans' hate of Malik Rose is truly a puzzle. Then again, they cheered the worst trade in the TD era and now wonder why the team is fucking old.

"his contract."

no. In the 03/04 season, he got fucked up with Pop and confused about his role. Had he continued playing the great ball he played in 02/3, nearly small double-double off the bench, he could still be a Spur.

"Rose 2007 is still better than what they have now."

It's a wash, at best. He can't manage 10 MPG on the damn Knicks, he fat, he's outta shape, and who knows where his head is?

Uh, Malik's contract was 99.999% of the reason he was traded. If he had a contract like Oberto or Horry, he'd still be here.

Instead, the Spurs gave away two first round picks that they could have turned into useful players that would have kept this current team from being so old.
