Can you please explain why Kansas is ranked higher than A&M? Both have 4 losses, and we beat them in their house.

Consider the paths the two teams have taken since A&M beat Kansas and all encounters between ranked teams. This is not including Monday's game as the polls came out before then.
Kansas:
11/25 #1 Florida W 82-80
01/10 #10 Oklahoma St W 87-57
02/07 Kansas St W 97-70
02/10 at Missouri W 92-74
02/14 at Colorado W 75-46
02/17 Nebraska W 92-39
Aggies:
12/05 at #11 LSU L 64-52
12/09 at #1 UCLA L 65-62
02/05 #25 Texas W 100-82
02/10 at Nebraska W 66-55
02/13 Texas Tech L 77-75
02/17 at Oklahoma W 56-49
Not only did Kansas not lose while A&M did, they absolutely dominated their competition while A&M had to fight harder for their wins. Just like football also, the polls are a lot of "what have you done for me lately"

it doesn't make a lot of sense, but neither does having ohio state and wisconsin 1/2 and vice versa. its ridiculous...

i understand why this happens in the polls, but that doesn't mean it makes sense? make sense?

perhaps margin of victory?
Kansas has been like doubling up on opponents

i like margin of victory, but only to an extent. sometimes, the team you are beating gives up and the margin just gets way out of hand...like the nebraska game. but, don't get me wrong, kansas is great. personally, i think they are both top 5/6.

yeah look at t.u. tonight
they are physically and metaphysically bukkakking a team that has beat m.a. twice in one season

In all seriousness I think A&M and Kansas are easily both top 5 teams.
polls don't mean jack shit in college basketball when you're an indisputably good team, so don't nitpick just ball
Will be toasty to see t.u. own both am and ku to end the season :smokin

i want to agree with the top 5 statement but i added an extra spot (6) just to be safe. you probably won't beat either kansas or A&M, but thats nothing to be ashamed about. in fact, i don't think you have any chance to beat kansas since its on the road, but you do have A&M at home.
...kind of nice to see tekk get smashed tonight, i guess A&M just doesn't match up well with them...which confuses me, actually.

Yeah, I love how SRA Husker picks a few conference games and games from December to explain why Kansas is now ahead of A&M... margin of victory doesn't work when Lundardi came out and had A&M above Kansas in terms of "adjusted scoring margin."

"What have you done for me lately?"
That's all that matters in the polls. We lost one last week, KU won by 53. That's alright, we'll see them in the B12 final :makemyday

I didn't pick a few conference games, I picked the ones that the pollsters were looking at - the most recent ones. And the December games were just backing that point further up.

honestly, i can't even remember. those games, both which A&M let slip away at the end (they had leads in both with a few minutes left), have been erased from my mind.

I bet ya it won't. The B12 title game is the last one of the day, and usually gets done inside an hour before the selection show.
The committee is pretty much done with seeding at that point.
Not to mention one of UNC, UCLA, Wisconsin, or Florida would have to lose 2-3 more games for either one of us to even get a sniff at a one seed.

The real problem is Pitt still being in the top 10 in both polls and #8 (ahead of the aggies) in the USA Today poll. I guess 13 point losses at home to an unranked team is better than a 2 point home loss at the buzzer. Pitt will be gone in the second round of the tourney, but don't tell ESPN that with their Big East love affair.

No way do we get #1 seed, even if we run the table and win out last 7 games coming up.
I will be more than happy with 2 seed. Remember, we were 12 seed last year.
That is an amazing move for one year.
The Ags could run the table and take home both the regular season and the championship hardware, and they still won't get a one seed. It's going to go UCLA, Florida, UNC, and Wisconsin / Ohio State.
A&M basketball is fielding an excellent squad; but how is the selection committee going to leapfrog the Aggies over the winner of the ACC, the defending champs, a dominant B10 squad with under five losses, and last years' national runner up who's been ranked first part of the season?
Kansas and A&M should both get twos. And none of us Horns fans are allowed to bitch when we get a seven or an eight, OK?

but, i could see UNC & Wisconsin/Ohio State losing more games...heck UCLA could as well. and if A&M is not losing and winning their post season conference title to boot....how can they be a #1 seed over at least 1 of those teams. makes sense to me.
as for t.u., you know i could care less....but feel free to bitch all you want, who said you couldn't? though, you might want to wait until A&M wins in Austin.
I don't really get the whole hype over getting a one seed unless you're the overall #1 in the field. Tournament history is littered with twos ('04 UConn), threes (like Florida and Carmelo's Syracuse team), and fours (Arizona) taking home the title. In fact, in the last ten years, just as many non-#1's have won as #1's.
With the pod format and neutral courts, I think it's more advantageous to wind up in a 1st and 2nd round pod with three beatable teams than to sweat the seeding. Look how often low seeded tourney darlings like George Mason and Wichita State show up in the regionals because it's just a one-and-done format. When you're a top-ten team like A&M, you've got a great shot at the hardware with only fifteen other teams left standing.
A few years back when the Horns made the Final Four, they were a one seed. OU was a one as well, so there's a little precedent for the Big 12 to get two #1's. Of course, the eventual champion wound up beating UT and OU in consecutive games.

I'm fine with a two seed. Yeah, the one seed would be nice because that means we'd probably be playing the regional in San Antonio and that would be some serious home court advantage.
Regardless, we're going to have to go through some damn good seeds to win it all anyway. Not too worried about that one seed. Just prefer staying away from Florida and UNC for as long as possible :)

it's true, in the grand scheme of things it really doesn't matter that much...a 2 or a 1, a 1 or a 2. obviously, it would be cool if A&M is a 1 seed...but i won't lose any sleep over it. my thoughts are more in the sense that, i don't see how they can't be a 1 if they run the table and win the conference tourney cause not every team ahead is going to go undefeated from here on out and its not like A&M is that far from a 1 seed right now, imo.

More idiots in the women's voting.
Texas A&M women are ranked 2 places below Oklahoma. A&M swept Oklahoma this year and are leading the conference, and will win the conference with a victory tomorrow night.
How moronic are the voters anyway?
