We just finished a 68 man deep stack poker tourney. SpursTalk represented rather well.

2nd - timvp
3rd - Kori Ellis
4th - kris

Couldn't quite knock out the gigantic stack who came to the final table with as much as everyone else combined. But I'd say that we did okay.

:greedy :greedy :greedy :greedy

That was my 6th tournament. I've got a 2nd and two 3rds to my name. Oh and thank you Spurs for covering my drunken bet on the Spurs minus 7.5 against the Nuggets.

Only bad news is I only get to play one more tournament :depressed

Did you read the story by Bill Simmons on the ASG weekend in Vegas?

Were things that crazy?

Actually, you are owning other poker players - not Vegas.

They get their's off the top in poker. Still, congrats. Where are you playing your tourney's at?

I wish I could get in a game with you guys, you sound like you are pretty good, and maybe might give me some competition.

I own this town(and Kinder, La), and need some new blood.

Umm.. when you win money, you are a winner.

Umm.. yeah, we know how the system works. I think you read to much into the the subject line of the thread :rolleyes

All in all, we did pretty well as a group. LJ played in 7 tournaments and Kris played in 8 and they both did very well. Kris also cleaned up in a lot of cash games. I was doing All-Star stuff in the beginning of the trip so I didn't play as much as they did, but I did well too.

Why would they make us chop?

Finished the trip with five final tables. A 2nd, two 3rds, a 5th and a 6th. kris got a 1st, 2nd and two 4ths. He also stayed up 40 hours straight to abuse some of the drunken cash game players. I was doing all tournaments and never got to the cash games. Kori had a 3rd and two 5ths in four tournaments.

Overall, we were all three way up on the poker tables.

Good times :smokin

How in the heck do you have time to play in 7-8 tourneys? Mine would have lasted at least 5 hrs had we not chopped.

What was the buy-in for these tourneys? I am taking my office for Spring Break in 3 wks and want to play one tourney. I usually play just a 2-5 no limit cash game, but I liked the tourney atmosphere the other night, so want to try it again.

.

We played a lot of small tourneys. 25 people or so. $47 buyin (90% payouts). 1st/2nd/3rd = 50%/30%/20%. They last about 2-3 hours.

It's amazing the difference in the payouts from casino to casino. Most paid out only around 70% or so. But we found Riviera paid 90%, that's why we chose to stay there. It's a no frills poker room, but we didn't care. We'd rather have more money than more fancy stuff.

with the more money you win, then you go to the fancy places and spend it, yes?

:)

Also, did they ask if you people wanted to chop the payout at any point?

timvp kori kris manny,
greenhorn here at live play for pay.

In casinos specifically, but also online,
How do you tell if a table is rigged with a group that is woking together to win? Group that is scheming to beat you?
I was told to avoid online as there IS no way to tell if 5 geeks with 5 computers in the same room are scamming. For that matter have the greedy sites hired some uber geek to rig the games so you are really playing a computer and not a live person?
