KSAT had a teaser for their noon news. Showed him in court with handcuffs.

Public Intoxication was mentioned. I couldn't find anything online yet.

That's makes two sportscasters I've worked with who have fallen afoul of the law at some point.

Hopefully Joe's wife gets some help with her apparent drinking problem.

And what were Joe's counts, drinking or resisting?

Hopefully Joe gets some help with his apparent drinking problem, he's a great guy and always treated me with respect.

I don't know if he has a drinking problem. If the WOAI radio story is accurate, it just looks like he was pissed off at how the police were handling his wife.

I don't know. That WOAI story makes it seem like Joe was charged with public intoxication and resisting arrest. WOAI TV is fact checking right now but they should have a story up soon. (That story that was posted is WOAI Radio).

Well I don't know the exact circumstances. But if you were sitting at your house and had a couple beers, then your wife was arrested, having a panic attack and at the hospital, you came there and you were pissed off at how the police were handling her, then I'd imagine getting in trouble for public intoxication would be easy.

ZStomp
02-26-2007, 12:54 PM
Very easy. Most PI's that police encounter we try and find someone who we can release them to. But if the person is being a butthead (for lack of a better word)- we will take them downtown and book them.

Public intoxication and resiting arrest while he was with his wife. (fixed it if anyone read it)

He was just released a few hours ago.

With a DWI.

Court date set for late march.

SAN ANTONIO -- KENS-TV sportscaster Joe Reinagel was arrested and charged Monday with public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

According to a police report, Reinagel showed up at a hospital Sunday night to see his wife, Dia Joy Reinagel, who had complained of chest pains shortly after she was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.

The report said that a police officer said that Joe Reinagel had red eyes and smelled of alcohol.

The officer also stated in his report that while Joe Reinagel was visiting with his wife, the officer could hear the sportscaster using profanity to refer to him. The officer then pulled Reinagel from the room and tried to calm him down when Reinagel allegedly used more profanity -- this time to the officer's face.

Reinagel was then arrested. He then appeared before a magistrate and was released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in court March 8.

I don't know the circumstances. I wasn't there. :lol I don't even know that they were in a private room. I just know that he was supposedly very loud which led to the cop trying to calm him down, which led to Joe cussing and yelling at the cop, which led to his arrest.

Anyway, I doubt much will come from this unless he has a drinking history or something. They (KENS) will likely just treat it as an isolated incident. To me, if your spouse is in the hospital, then you might let your anger/frustration get out of hand ... especially if you have been drinking.

As always, it's the mean cop who should have been more sensitive. :rolleyes

If you're drunk and screaming profanity in a hospital then you deserve a trip to jail. There are people in there who are sick, suffering and dying and the last thing they need is some drunk-ass local hotshot cursing at the top of his lungs. And what should a cop do when a drunk is screaming in his face? Stand there and take it?

The officer then pulled Reinagel from the room and tried to calm him down when Reinagel allegedly used more profanity -- this time to the officer's face.

"He, in fact, was intoxicated himself," San Antonio police spokesman Gabe Trevino said. "He was very aggressive as the officer tried to speak with him. It was a situation where he was yelling at the arresting officer in the waiting room."

Reinagel was then arrested. He appeared before a magistrate and was released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in court March 8.

"It's stupidity," Reinagel said about his arrest after he was released.

I'll answer their questions and obey their requests if they show respect in the first place. I show enough respect when I get pulled over to pull over to a safe, well lit area, turn off my vehicle and put my hands on the wheel. I don't reach for my id/insurance cards until asked for, just so I don't get a warning shot in my arm. Even after all this, I still get attitude from cops.

When I first got my truck, I was pulled over multiple times. I had all my dealer papers for proof of purchase, the cop told me I could easily print those out. I told him to call the dealer if he needed to, he said it could be one of my friends at that number. And this was the number off a fucking printed business card from Domingo Vara Chevrolet, not some rundown used car lot on Military Dr. I told him, I can call 411 and have you ask for Domingo Vara Chevrolet and they'll tell you the truth. He said, "are you being smart?". This was all unprovoked, I showed no attitude in my speech to him. I said yes sir, no sir. And he still gave me shit. Another time, my truck was actually searched for no reason at all. There was nothing to find, but I still refused. Then he gave me the whole shit about "are you resisting", so I just said go ahead and look if it'll get me on my way, so off I go to the back of the squad car until his fat ass climbs in and out of my truck.

Must've been upsetting to him that a "punk kid" like me can afford such a nice truck and he's barely making ends meet even by working odd security jobs on his days off. That's not a lie either, I recognized him working traffic duty out front of Grahams. I'm sure he recognized my truck too.

And please don't misquote me again. I suck off anyone with a badge.

I just have never had a good experience with police officers. It's good that they've come through for you, but thats not the case with everyone. I always hear, "well who is there for you when you're in trouble?" My answer? Well if I need someone 30 mins later, then I guess the cops are the ones to call. Anyone from the southside can verify this, but if you ever need a cop, just go to the Exxon on Military and Roosevelt, because that seems to be the hangout.

One thing that really pissed me off one time was my fiance was called by her Mom who lives off of Commercial and Military. She was home alone and someone was trying to break in. My fiance and I were at the Target on Goliad and Military, quite a ways away. We immediately left the store and headed west on Military Dr., passed that Exxon full of cops and got to her house and the cops still weren't there. I drive a Tahoe, so I can go real fast or I'll burn my whole gas tank. :lol So wouldn't it had been safe to assume that one of those 5-6 patrol cars would've left that comfy Exxon? I know those cops in particular might not have been called specifically, but 30-45 mins is quite a while to wait for a cop to show up.

Danyo uses just about any thread to throw in the fact he has a brand new Tahoe.

It was used to make a point. I've referred to it in other threads as "my truck". The fact that I still had paper plates might have given him a reason to pull me over to verify, but the cops attitude was uncalled for.

I would, but who knows what "kind" of cop you are. You have to admit, some cops out there think their badge is a license to be a dick. I had a friend from high school who started being a little bitch after he got on the force. A bunch of us just broke off all contact with him and he assumes it's because we're into illegal shit, so a friend of mine just told him, "no, it's because you became an asshole cop." It just does something to the "weak minded". Not that I assume you're one of them, just stating my opinion.

I do admit that Danyo. There are bad cops out there just like there are bad doctors, lawyers, teachers, etc, etc.

I can honestly say I am not one of these. I'm too old for that. I try to be a fair cop. I haven't not been complained on and I rarely use profanity towards people. Sometimes, you have to though. And no I don't pull over people for dealer tags. :lol

I hope you run into a good officer one day. Or better yet. That you don't run into one. just remember there are good ones out there. :tu

Hmmm, it's also kinda funny that I didn't even say I had a Tahoe. What did you do, look up my old posts? :lmao

I hope to eventually run into a good cop someday. And to be honest, I actually did see a cop helping out a guy whose truck broke down on the highway. Usually I just see the cop sitting in his car, while the guy/girl is getting the spare out on his own. I know they don't HAVE to help out, but cmon. Aren't they supposed to protect AND serve. I don't even see why I was pulled over multiple times to "verify" my tags. :wtf

:tu thanks, for some reason I couldn't find it in a word search, my bad.
ah, you quoted a different post, nice trick! :lol

but cmon, i mention it ONCE in this thread and now I'm an attention whore. :lmao

I was just pissed that I thought that since I had finally gotten rid of my sportscar(i won't mention what kind it was :rolleyes ), I wouldn't get harassed by cops as much, but to my surprise, I get MORE harrassment in the first week.
