Josh Howard doesn't think there's anything accidental about the fact that he turned his right ankle for the second time in the past three games on Monday.

"Hopefully, they'll send the tapes in and have a talk with those people, because that ain't right," said a livid Howard who believes that landing on the foot of Jason Kapono last week and Joe Johnson last night may have been more than bad luck.

"I'm the only one it's been happening to and I know it's not fate. Somebody's telling somebody to do something."

Well, we're not here to stoke any conspiracy theories that opposing teams are out to undercut Howard on his jump shots, but he says it's happened to him five times this season, so perhaps he has a right to moan, especially considering the fact that undercutting jump shooters was supposedly addressed in the pre-season officials' meetings.

Fortunately for Howard owners, this injury doesn't appear nearly as serious as the ankle sprain he suffered earlier this year that knocked him out for eight games. X-rays were negative and Howard, although he had a limp, was at least able to walk on his own power. The team lists him as day-to-day, so he's questionable at best for tonight's game.

Someone else said that if this happened to a Spur that people would complain. I kindly informed them that no, it wouldn't be the case, because the Spurs have never been crybabies about anything ever. And do they not own 2.5 championships? I'm staying perfectly on topic.

Yes, Josh needs to suck it up. I thought what Kapono did was dirty, but definitely not Joe Johnson.

It's a medical fact that ankles weakened by sprains have a tendency to roll and get sprained again. It's a vicious cycle, and one that is only stopped by the player/person completely recovering....

So, basically the conspiracy theory is shite. Howard's ankles are weak and whereas he would typically shrug off an ankle roll, he can't because of his pre-existing condition...

Alright, Spurs would indeed complain but not call out conspiracy theories.

No, the difference is that Duncan is a post player. Lots more feet to land on in the paint. I don't agree with the conspiracy thing but the guy is frustrated and I would be too. It happens everytime on JUMPSHOTS. Not when he is driving the lane, jumpshots. Players don't need to put their feet where he just took off from to have a successful boxout. He doesn't kick his legs out so its obvious that their feet have to be right where he would land. JJ wouldn't do it on purpose, no way. However, Pietrus (the guilty party when Josh rolled it and was out 8 games), was not even facing the basket. Players just need to be aware thats all. Josh is just frustrated. 2 times in 3 games. And you can't make it up, the video shows it. It sucks but no conspiracy theory. The poor guy just has bad luck. I cringe when he goes up for a jumpshot these days. Afraid he will do it again.

It's kind of weak for him to be calling them out when previous opponents have called him out for tripping them up to prevent fast breaks.

Mavs fans like to throw out the term "karma" with respect to Wade, so perhaps it applies here too.

#1 - seeing the play, Joe Johnson did not do it on purpose and #2 - perhaps Howard should try not jumping forward on his shooting motion.

Sometimes Josh doesn't take responsibility for what happens to him. He was drafted low because he "didn't get no respect." Wasn't voted an all-star because everyone else is "whack," not even stopping to think that maybe 19 pts and 7 rebounds aren't the most all-star worthy numbers in a deep forward conference. And, lastly, that timeout he called in the Finals was the "ref's fault."

Jason Terry never kicked Wally Szerbiqadkjlaldfjasldfjdalfkjdasl;iak in the face. It's been sweet watching Bowen melt down in front of our eyes this year and lose the only two marginal skills keeping him in the league: keeping his man in front of him (which he can't even accomplish with dirty play anymore) and knocking down the odd three-ball when TD gets double-teamed. Karma's a bitch Bruce.

I think the Refs should try their hardest to make a distinction between someone reacting emotionally or gennuienly to a call or just trying to bitch for the sake of bitching. Following the refs after a call and complaining , or stopping to say somthing to them while the game is still going should warrant a tech. a show of frustation on a dead ball should be let go.

That's it - that's what makes me mad. This "us against them" attitude. "Refs gave the Finals to Wade" blah, blah.

Better than the Phoenix "us against nobody" attitude. "our guys keep getting hurt it's not fuckin' fair! :cry " blah blah

This is true. There were reports from Suns camp in the local paper that some players were saying this. But since Mike Fisher didn't write it, most Mavs fans will think those claims are garbage.

Well, it's really only Cuban and Howard who have the mentality. Dirk has "us against exercise equipment..." :elephant

Well what's the point of being a Hawks fan on this forum? Who exactly will want to engage in Atlanta Hawks talk? It was a lost cause. There's alot more Mavs and Spurs talk, so since I'm also a Mavs fan I go from that angle instead.

and by "pipedream" joke, do you mean that you'd seriously trade Stack, Buckner, George, Croshere, AND picks for Miller/Gasol?

I'll go Hawks with you dude. Live in the middle Georgia area and follow the team, but I try not to get too involved or optimistic because the Front Office is absolutely atrocious...

If you want to start an "Official Hawks Fan Thread" I'd comment....

Awesome, sounds good. I know what u mean about the Front Office. I'm almost glad that Phoenix will probably be getting the Hawks 1st rounder...Billy Knight will just draft a 6-9 forward for the 18th year in a row.

Um, if it's ONLY happening to Josh Howard, which is what he's saying himself, then that says to me he needs to take a look at how he's playing and adjust, rather than expect everyone else to adjust for him.

If Josh would go to the set shot he wouldn't have this problem...

Use your brain. First off, hes obviously frustrated. Second, the fact that it has happened to him 5 times already this season, while it is only a rare occurence around the rest of the league seems rather fishy. I'm not saying that there are people out to get him, but it does seem odd.

You're joking right? Duncan sprained his ankle like 5 times in the whole 04-05 season. Sometimes it happens, be thankful that this one for Howard isn't bad. TD had like two bad sprains that year. It happens in sports.

Honestly, I really don't care. As long as he keeps going out there and playing basketball like he has been, it doesnt matter to me.

Im not arguing that either. Its just funny how it keeps happening the same way, especially the way that Kapono did it. It could very well be a coincedince. Who knows? its just funny looking is all I said.

It's not that funny looking... when you jump forward on your shot and you have a high release point (which means defenders try to close the gap more to get a hand on the shot), then you're gonna step on some feet... let's not forget how huge these guys' feet are.

Josh is just being a little whiner.
