Lewis Waived
By Mike Duffy
February 28, 2007

The Ravens have waived running back Jamal Lewis, general manager and executive vice president Ozzie Newsome announced today.

But, just one day before the start of free agency, that doesn't mean that the seven-year veteran won't don a Ravens jersey in the future. Newsome expressed his desire to re-sign Lewis sometime this offseason.

"We are involved in negotiations with Jamal, and there has been good dialogue," said Newsome. "Jamal has been a significant contributor to us in the last seven seasons.

"It's our hope to have him back with the Ravens."

Didnt want to pay him his 5 mill roster bonus, no way they re-sign him. If they were going to resign anyone it would be Adalius Thomas. I guess Mike Anderson will get way more carries next year

Giants or Broncos I bet end up with him. But what if he ended up with the Browns? That would be something. I also think he has a lot left

He would be a nice addition to the two headed backfield the Broncos like to employ. If they do trade Tatum for a pick in the draft, I would have no problem with them going after Lewis. Let him and Mike Bell split the carries, and they could put up some great numbers.

I think the ravens know he has something left. This was done solely because the Ravens are in a Cap Space nightmare right now. It even looks like they may not be able to resign thomas.

If The Browns dont snag him, then maybe the Texans , but then again, Hou might want to get Lynch from Cal in the draft. If they do sign Lewis, they should draft Levi Brown from Penn State. If the Broncos sign him, they basically traded Mike Anderson for Jamal Lewis.
