If you watch a team play enough you can tell when a shooter releases it whether or not it will be good.

I was wondering if you'd be willing to prove your special powers to everyone at ST. I mean, if you can really do that while watching the Spurs, I'd be really impressed. Maybe a videotape of you predicting shots during a live Spurs game as witnessed by another ST member(s)??

I'd like to be able to do this myself...so maybe you could teach me?? I think my friends would be amazed if I could predict shots going in or not with 100% accuracy...

it's easier to tell when you're on the court actually playing. a shooter knows if his shot is going in or not most times. the defender, manytimes, can tell by the trajectory of the shot if it's going in. many times you'll hear someone yell "short" or "off" on shots during the game that miss. as for being able to tell by television, i would say is a bit more challenging...but you have a 50/50 shot of being right :lol :lol

I don't know about getting it right every time, but when I'm at games, I can frequently tell immediately after a shot is taken whether it will be short or long. Whether it's left or right is more difficult, but I don't miss too many when I call short or long.

I can get it right about 90% of the time... but that's only because I've watched this group of Suns for about 200 straight games and I know their body language/release points.

Every once-in-a-while I'll say one is off and it swishes, but that even happens when you're shooting the ball. I've had shots I thought were perfect bank off the board and in and others I thought were way short drop right through the net.

100% prediction is impossible, but you can modify it to a Lysol commercial and say like 99.9%

:lol, it would be amazing if anyone got it right 70-75% of the time watching a game on TV.

Best I can do is tell if a guy got it off in good form. At the NBA level, that's a good shot, whether it goes in or not.

Dennis Rodman was the same way. For all his weirdness, the Worm actually spent hours studying how his teammates and some opposing players tended to miss their shots.

I can usually tell if a shot is going to miss, like most of Finleys. But it's hard to tell if a shot is going in for sure, but you can tell by the form and rhythm. so I'd say you can sort of tell

I can predict(in or out) when manu or barry are shooting a Free throw about 85 to 90 % of the times.
So I´d say its true.

I wouldn't say it's 100 percent accurate, but you can get the jist of it if you study it enough, I'd say you could tell for some shots. But the variables such as lucky or unlucky bounces can always interfere with the accuracy, plus you can't really tell just how much power is going into a shot unless you release it yourself.

For example: did anybody "KNOW" Brent's shot against the Kings last year was actually going to go on? I don't really think so, same with Fisher's .4, or Duncan's shot before that one.

Actually, I take that back. The only one that I thought had a chance was Fisher's, unfortunately.

I think the main thing we're overlooking is how freaking irritating it'd be to watch a game with somebody who keeps calling the shot every time it leaves the hand.

I can see aggie´s point too,´we all know that´s imposible to predict or just to know about it.but if you take in consideration
1st.Body langueage
2nd.Player´s Fg%
3rd.if its forced or an easy shot
4th.how far it is.
5th.the ball going to the hoop(to the left/right , too slow/too high,too low)
You can actually be at about 50/50 chances.or more
