This was posted in the game blog thread, but...so everyone can see, we are now officially #1 in opponent's ppg defense after tonight's win, ahead of Dallas and Houston. Spurs Basketball is officially back...Race for the Rings is here. Objective #1 was at least going 2-2 in the season series vs Houston, and we've done that, hopefully eliminating the talk about the Spurs losing to Houston in the first round of the playoffs.
Up next: Make it 2-2 on the season with Utah on March 30.
A Spurs team without Parker, and Manu going 1-for-8, scores 97 against the top defensive team coming into tonight? Who says we don't have anyone outside the Big Three?
The Spurs entered tonight with the #3 FG% against, another Spurs point of emphasis. This one has been coming down steadily all year, which is a very good sign.

Houston and Chicago are still ahead of San Antonio in Opp. FG%
Edit: oops, didn't see your post. SRJ.

1st in the league in lowest opponent's ppg, 3rd in the league in lowest opponent's FG%, and Coach Pop said earlier this year "This is the worst defensive team we've had in the last 7, 8 years". Classic.

The Spurs were obviously trying to demoralize the tired Rockets in the first quarter last night with the intensity of their defense. It was the best sustained effort on the part of all the players that I've seen all year.
And they sustained the energy and intensity for most of the game. Result: a huge differential in the FG% and points.

It helps that Rox weren't in bed early Friday night, but the Spurs have been playing with an easily noticeable increae in movement and intensity and focus in the last 10 or games.
I wonder what happened to get them playing serious basketball so abruptly different from Dec-Feb?

CIA Pop tanking in Dec and Jan to avoid coaching ASG. He hates that shit.

hopefully no suns fans see this thread. according to them, ppg means nothing defensively, and all that matters is the per-48 minutes efficiency crap.
fuck suns fans.

I kinda hope that's true. I've taken so much shit for being a C-Webb defender the past couple of years that I'm glad to see the positive impact he's having in
Detroit. (Of course, I may be eating my words if the Spurs face the Pistons in the Finals...)
