I don't know...

I have some lovely yellow polish on mine.

Maybe try blotting it with remover. Just don't rub the spot. Did you find anything online?

Here are some links to sites that give tips on what you should do when that happens:

http://www.ehow.com/how_10700_clean-fingernail-polish.html

If all else fails, you can always put a rug or some furniture over it! Good luck!

Shaving cream or Windex should work.

Shaving cream or Windex should work.

Would it work on polish that's been there for years?

How does shaving cream get it out?

My daughter just spilled some this weekend.....first I put some GooGone on a cotton ball and rubbed at it....that didn't do shit so I got another cotton ball and put some nail polish remover on it....that got it out, but I immediately soaked it with Oxyclean carpet cleaner and scrubbed it some more...I didn't want the remover to melt the carpet...just in case that's not an old wive's tale. And I did it after it dried, if that makes a difference... :oops :lol

But it's gone! :elephant

Nail polish remover.

Oh, yeah, you probably don't want to take any stock in what I say in this thread.

I don't know why shaving cream works. I know Windex works because of the ammonia but I'm not sure if it will work on an old stain.

It depends on the color of the carpet. And if its the cheap shit they use in the apartments. You can look for a bottle called Miracle it's a secret many carpet cleaners keep to themselves. You may find it at Cleaning ideas or you may have to Google it.

You can go to home Depot and find something called brush saver. it is a soviet that is used to remove old paint from brushes w/o ruining the brush.

If you can't find it they may have removed it due to the use of it in making Meth.
then you may have to go to Sherman Williams or another paint store.

If you happen to use Goof off? which will remove it but will also remove some of the Fibers. Then all you have to do is Find the same carpet that is used in your home and cut out a 2 foot by 2 foot section, Glue the new section down and you may never know the patch was their if it's done right.
