I was watching the 1932 classic "Freaks" last night and in the DVD commentary section, they mentioned that the movie was based upon the short story "Spurs."
I thought that was kinda funny. I mean, could you imagine the Spurs welcoming a new teammate like Melvin Ely on the team the same way the Freaks welcomed the character Cleopatra?
"One of us. One of us. We accept him as one of us. Goobly-goop. Goobly-goop"
Also, the commentary mentioned that the conjoined twins in the movie lived the rest of their days in San Antonio.
