If anyone can beat the Mavs right now, it would be the Warriors, Spurs, or Suns. They Warriors might not have a good record but they have just as much, if not more talent than Dallas.

Dirk>anyone on their team
Baron>Terry by a little
Richardson=Howard
Ellis=Harris
Dampier<anyone on their team

Second game of a back-to-back, even though last night was a blowout, travel, plus Nellie wants to give it to Cuban. :ihit Golden State has the talent to compete with any NBA team, but they are injury-prone, a bunch of hot heads, psychos, and malcontents, and consistently inconsistent.

Mavs are capable of some crazy comebacks, but it would be nice to see a little chink in the armor.

What are the possibilities that GS actually makes the play-offs as the 8th seed? I haven't really followed the west standings.

Hopefully (well, to some), the Mavs come out of the half with a little more fire and care for the ball better. Just sloppy, careless ball in the first half. With that many turnovers and the other team shooting 60%, they'd be down to the Sisters of the Poor playing like this.

A team they're supposed to beat? Put your mortgage on the Warriors in a 7-game series if you're so confident.

And as far as them being compared to the 96 Bulls, that's a media creation sparked by any debate as the Mavs near what could be 70 wins. No one within the organization gives a crap. if you think the mavs don't care about 70 wins you're an idiot. of course they want to win 70 games, i think AJ even wants to. that being said, they'll never publicly say that and no, they don't want to win 70 more than a title. but i guarantee you they want 70.

Jason Terry - "It's easy for us to tune it out, just knowing we haven't accomplished anything," Terry said. "We're a team that has a goal in mind. Until we accomplish that goal, we're focused on the task at hand."

Dirk - "We're still a long way away from where we want to be in the playoffs. We have a lot of stuff we can get better at," said Dirk Nowitzki."

Avery - "We're a hungry basketball team because we don't have what we've been looking for," Johnson said. "Even though we may have a decent record, we still haven't been awarded anything yet."

You want to change that guarantee? A 70th win would only come as part of Avery's process to get this team ready for the playoffs. If it happens, then it happens because it's part of their way to the postseason. Not because it's a goal for the team.

Getting their asses handed to them by Golden State (which we're obviously seeing) and having some things to work on before Phoenix?

or

Thinking they can just turn it on/off each night, expecting GS to roll over for them and still riding that streak?

If anything, the asskicking helps get them in gear in preparation for Phoenix coming into town. They know what needs to be worked on before then or they'll be run out even worse than we're seeing tonight.

Stephen Jackson likes winning and can be an asset to any team...

Warriors guard Stephen Jackson was ejected in the third quarter of Sunday's game. Suffering through a 1-for-6 shooting night and frustrated by the fact the Warriors were falling hopelessly behind the Trail Blazers, Jackson threw the ball at the feet of a referee and was tossed. In all seriousness I am sure the Mavs will bring it on Wednesday. I am sure Avery is going to drill them the next 2 days.

indy films (if they're worth a shit) are usually released in movie theatres. it doesn't neccesitate a large scale relase. if they suck, it's straight to video. boondock saints was one of these movies. it's okay though. being a retard is common.

wait, no it's not. my apologies on your condition then.

Classy.

Hey Amare_32 or Ron, what happened to D'Antoni tonight? I had that game on mute and wasn't really paying too much attention but I saw some (sorry) dorky looking dude coaching the Suns.

Of course but after tonight's loss I hope the Suns don't come out flat because the Mavs will be looking to bounce back.

Coach seeks boost in intensity

The Suns are sluggish, out of sync and barely defeating teams with inferior talent.

On the other hand, they've won nine of 10 since the All-Star break and are just a short, disastrous stretch during a game in Philadelphia from their third double-digit winning streak this season.

It's March, which means basketball fans of all types are projecting postseason fortunes. But inside US Airways Center the Suns cautiously stick to the rituals that have helped produce the league's second-best record.

"We want to play until the end of June, and this is the middle of March," coach Mike D'Antoni said Sunday, two days after the Suns survived a last-second shot to hold off New Orleans.

"It's natural that some guys go through a lull. You just can't be sharp-sharp all the time. I don't want to use that as an excuse, but I think it's human nature."

To paraphrase author Madeleine Blaise, with the Suns, confidence is a muscle. D'Antoni said he is concerned with the team's recent performance, but he sees no reason why its intensity level won't increase this week, starting with tonight's home game vs. Houston and ending with the three D's - Dallas, Detroit and Denver.

He said he's never known the Suns to lack focus. Nor has he witnessed any chemistry problems in the locker room. He'd like for the Suns to be perfect every night, but despite the Mavericks' performance in Texas, that's not possible over an 82-game season.

"You just refocus and regather, and this team always has done that," D'Antoni said.

Guard Raja Bell conceded the Suns have lost something since Minnesota snapped its 17-game win streak Jan. 29. They aren't jumping on teams or dominating them, choosing instead to cruise and survive. Bell pointed out an element that he thinks often gets overlooked.

"We get everybody's best effort every night out," he said. "Teams come to play against us. We're not going to get a Charlotte team that's not ready to play."

The Suns expect nothing less from Houston, rolling under the West's radar at 38-24 going into Sunday's game vs. Orlando. Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady, both healthy, combine for nearly 50 points per game.

The Suns have beaten Houston twice this season. A third win could create momentum going into Wednesday's showdown against Dallas, a team the Suns haven't beaten since last year's Western Conference finals.

"We need to beat them - not only for our mental state, but just to let them know we can beat them on their home court," Bell said.

But those are mind games for a later day. For now, the Suns insist they just want to improve, especially on defense, where D'Antoni has noticed a recent lack of "gamesmanship."

"I believe in our heart, and I believe in our talent," he said. "I don't have a question we can (win a title)."

yes they did get shat on but it doesn't mean anything, it's one loss, the tenth loss, big WOW...i guess you expected everyone to be pissed off about it and little fillmoe was going to come in here and talk all kinds of shit and get everyone riled up and angry....yeah, that's not really going to happen, thanks for playing.

About Damn time the Mavs lost Shit i am sick of this team winning every fucking night. Shows how good they are that the Spurs have won so many in a row and not gained any ground. I despise the Mavs but i do respect the hell out of them.

nah, i don't think the suns will come out flat, no reason or indication that they would, they know it's a good opportunity to put one away against another good team. as for the mavs, i also see them bouncing back from this loss and from looking at avery's face, the mavs ballers are in for it. the other day, terry was talking about some game that they didn't want to lose because they'd have to listen to avery for four days about it. anyway, congrats on the win tonight, see you on wednesday.

The Warriors have a better roster to play small ball. I think that has more to do with it than Nellie's coaching. Nellie knows defense?

D'Antoni let the Italian rage get the best of him and got two quick techs in the 3rd... team didn't fold and the Rockets showed their fatigue.

Suns do poorly against the Mavs when they play them after the Mavs get blown out in California... last time: Mavs lose 103-85 against Clips and beat Suns 119-112

you're right but the suns do the same thing and aren't quite (although very close) as effective. i do think at least some of it has to do with nellie's knowledge of guys like dirk and howard...and avery but yes, their roster is well suited for matching up against the mavs. we never slowed down the game either and were sloppy with the ball...the only thing that made me smile about this game is th time pops was in the game. i know it sounds ridiculous but the last three games he's had some minutes, he's looked good.

wtf are you talking about? i was throwing out a light comment about Dirk Nowitzki poster because he was using a thousand emoticons, caps and some other crap and saying that the mavs were just about to go on their run and get this win when it was obviously out of their reach. you should really learn to follow the threads a bit better...although, this is hilarious because you are 100% wrong in your finger pointing
