I like his style but I wish we could get someone local like Andrew Monaco or maybe even Ron Thulin who I believe still lives here. It would be nice to have a permanent TV guy instead of bringing in the all-stars vets like stockton and barnett. Just another useless thread I know!

monoco has done some games and is horrible.

Barnett, if you were a fan in the early 90s was the full time TV play by play guy.

Barnett is the best PBP next to Jay Howard this franchise has ever had.

Plus he lives here :tu

I thought he lived in Dallas thats why he was late. Monaco is alright what about Greg Simmons? He used to do games when KSAT had the rights.

Barnett is the best pbp guy we have had on the television ever. I was thrilled when it was announced he was back. Great, great guy.

Barnett and Dietrich were a great combo. Jay Howard was awesome. Bill Shoening's play by play has inspired me to save up for League Pass.

I can't stand Barnett. He has no personality. Is he accurate? Yes, but he's been working with writing about the Spurs since I've been alive.

Yes, I think Jay was the best evern and I miss 'im. I love how Bill Shoening is following in Jay's footsteps by giving every player a signature call whenever he makes a shot like a "Trez Bien" for Parker's three and a "Manu Tres" for a Ginobili three----although I personally would have voted for making it a "Manu-ge-a-trois" myself.

Jay Howard had signature calls for players? I don't remember that. Of course, I didn't like when he added "BANG". He was trying too hard to be Al McCoy.

I hate Dave Barnett. He doesn't have the certain pitch when he does play-by-play.

Hes by far and away the best friggen play by play TV guy they've ever had.


Schoening still stutters, pauses, and has to wait for the PA announer way too damn much.

I cut my teeth as a basketball fan hearing Terry Stembridge describe what was happening.

He will forever be the voice of this franchise, in my mind. And the Spurs have never found anyone better.
