View Full Version : Golden State is the 8th seed

Anyone notice that Golden State has officially snuck into the #8 seed after the LA Clippers lost tonight? GS is 30-36, LAC is 29-35, that gives GS the higher winning percentage at .455.

Good first round match up of Dallas/GS if GS can hang on to the 8 seed, which they are officially holding at this moment. Not saying GS would win that series, but it could go 7 games.

Yeah but then we'll have to play the Mavs in the second round again.

i laugh at you if you think a GSW/PONIES series is going to stretch to 7 games

at best its a mavs in 5 games or a sweep depending on baron davis.

There are 5 WC teams with 35 or 36 Ls, all fighting for the only WC seed still in play.

Golden State is for real. It's Sonics Nuggets Upset 2.0 if GS gets in the 8th seed.

Mavs in 5 over Golden State. The Warriors have no chance in the playoffs.

If they won, it would be among the greatest upsets in sports history. Equivalent or better than a 15 over a 2 seed (since it's March Madness time).

I dunno. #1, 2, 3, 4, ..., 100 on that list are all taken up by one sporting upset: Rulon Gardner beating Kerelin in 2000 Sydney Olympics.

It up there... I'm not sure if you could call that the greatest upset of all time though.

I would much rather see Dallas match up with Sac than GS. Neither will be able beat Dallas in a series but Sac at least will beat 'em up a little.

the nba really needs to cut down on the number of playoff teams it allows... having the majority of teams in the league make the playoffs is just dumb... it should be something rewarded to only the best teams... i know all that cinderella crap is solid gold.... but sub 500 teams should not be playing in the second season.

GS is today for the Mavs what the 2003 SUNS were for the SPURS.
I mean, we had a difficult time beating them but in a 7 game series, the Mavs will beat them.

Good luck to the Warriors, hopefully they can hang on to it. They have a pretty tough schedule left including 2 games against the Spurs not to mention 1 against the Suns and another against the Mavs.

The Warriors have owned the Mavs over the last two seasons. Sometimes certain teams match ups prevent problems for even the best teams. For whatever reason, the Warriors present problems with the Mavs...probably because they cancel out the "small ball factor." Even without Nellie the Warriors took care of the Mavs last year. I dont think anyone is saying they would win the series, but I definitely think there's a good chance it would go 6 or 7.

Warriors are undefeated when they have their full team on the floor.

Clips are going in the wrong direction. Most disappointing team of '07 by a wide margin.

Something goofy will happen. Either the Warriors won't get in or if they do the Mavs will be # 2

Actually, the Warriors can't "officially" be the 8th seed except in a games behind sense.

The Warriors are tied for the 9th most losses in the West. If they finish there, they won't make the playoffs.

Just because GS can beat the Mavs once in a while, doesnt necessarily
mean they will triumph in a 5 game series. Everyone has been saying 7 games, but if they end up 1 and 8, theyd meet in the first round and would have 5, not 7 to win. Dallas lost last night to Phoenix, who plays somewhat like GS.

All playoff series have been best-of-7 affairs since 2003. Otherwise, the Spurs couldn't have eliminated Phoenix in 6 games in 2003 or Sacramento in 6 games in 2006.

Be glad Mavs fans that Golden State is slipping away from the #8 seed.

It won't matter who the Mavs play in the 1st round. They should win in 4-5 games. The Mavs haven't matched the Warrior's intensity in any of the recent regular season games which is part of the reason for losing to them. That wouldn't be the case in the playoffs. Obviously, some teams match up better with others but the difference between the 1st and the 8th seed (regardless of who it is) this season is too large for it to make much of a difference.

Actually the Warriors are much better than what their record shows. They've been without Baron Davis for much of the season and made a trade in the middle of season. I wouldn't count them out yet as in making the playoffs and they would be a very tough first round team to play.

Ever since the Warriors acquired Stephen Jackson from Indiana, they have been a much better team and Indiana has fallen apart. They would be +20.00 to beat Dallas in a 7 game series though.

GST is now 3 back in the loss column to the Clippers and they're 1 back in the loss column to the Hornets. Clippers have 12 to go, but Warriors only have 10 left. For now, at least, the Clippers hold the tiebreaker on GST, too. The Warriors need a lot of help now to get there.

I'm pulling for New Orleans to come back and get the 8th seed as I'd rather not stay up late (for me) and watch the Mavs play 2 west coast playoff games (vs. Clippers or Warriors).

I'm 90% sure that the Clippers will be the 1st round opponent though.
