Costas: Tell me what it was like in these agriculture classes.
Wright: Um at certain classes, you'd see, you know, a quarterback, me, a runningback, and then a farmer. Heh. So, it, it definitely was a little bizarre, but we're all in poultry science for a reason. We're in this class 'cause we need to get this grade, we're not really tryin to learn about chickens.
I know at least 7 aggies who took chicken science myself.

no, beef is whats for dinner. the fact that wright said this about A&M doesn't really mean anything. in fact, A&M graduates more athletes than t.u. does, or at least they did the last #'s i saw. although, its not surprising that some athletes might get it easier...that probably happens at any/every school.
...i just can't believe he said that.

Why did you compare Texas A&M to Tulsa? Anyway, i'm sure every University does it to some extent, but it's fun to make fun of when someone comes out like this.

let's wait till mack's recruiting class graduation numbers come out. i'm not saying that they will be better then a&m's, but it's somewhat skewed thanks to mackovic. it's no excuse really, but a lot of players left and fucked the percentage up.

A&M needs to graduate more athletes... because they need to be doing something while they aren't winning on the football field.

Right, A&M is the only school in the country where athletes take easy majors :rolleyes
I'm sure the general studies and african american studies programs at UT are brutal :rolleyes

let us all be mature here
obviously this takes place at every school
but the fact that this guy comes out and says it (betrays his precious tradition of extra men on the playing field) is funny and scoffable.
Let us also not forget he talked about POULTRY SCIENCE class at an agriculture and mechanical school. He was a former agriculturer himself, although he was not planning to be an agriculturer for life. So his classes were asanine. And THAT is funny as hell!

I saw a longer interview with Antoine where he talked about all of it being a joke but changing around under Billy. It's a good thing reporters don't have agendas and never edit interviews to fit their agenda.

...and yet, t.u.'s track record is much worse than A&M's when it comes to athletes and academics.

how so? i'd say that THE university of Texas' track record is pretty good.
let me reprhase that...
it's pretty good when compared with a&m's. they're practically identical.

It's pretty dumb to say one school is better than the other as far as academics go. They're essentially equal. Kermit's hit it on the head already.

:lol The hate is comical. A&M has six guys graduating either in May or August, and Antoine is even taking the courses needed to finish out his degree.
Only 3 of the 7 are sports management by the way.
Yeah, ag dev is pretty ghetto. Guess we need to get more classes like darts, bowling, history of jazz music, etc. like the courses Durant are taking right now.

i really don't think it matters what kevin is taking. he's majoring in the nba right now and has a 3.0 gpa doing it. make fun of texas' athletes classes all you want but the school has a very good track record when it comes to disciplining those who fail to show up to class and those who fail to keep the minimum gpa required.
but yeah, those making fun of a&m's academic requirements are living in glass houses. if your school has a 70% or better graduation rate, you're able to talk shit in my book (which means nothing). i believe texas is sitting at a 40% rate for football right now and i'm sure it's no better for basketball (although the basketball and baseball teams have had quite a number of withdrawals due to occupations made in the nba, a hit the program is more than willing to take).
