I would have never guessed the Spurs were almost the lightest.

Here's the link. It has charts for height, experience, age, etc. too.

Nice job, Hedo Tacolu

Actually Hedo looks in great shape, I went to the Orlando Utah game tonight here in Orlando.

His shot looks equally as bad, but no doubting hes thinner.

Cato, Battie, Declerq Bradley and others are whats making that weighted so to speak.

This Spurs weight isn't that surprising to me...I bet Bowen and Barry combined don't weigh as much as Shaq. We have a bunch of lean athletic guys...Manu, Bowen, Horry, Massenburg, Barry, Parker...

I am pretty sure the heaviest guy on our team is Duncan...and if that's the case we'd have to be one of the lightest. I'm actually kind of surprised we aren't the lightest.

And I think taking Rasho off and replacing him with Drob would make us even lighter. Just looking at things I'd say Rasho is heavier than Drob was.

The "Shaq is fat" jokes are so lame, because they're so dated.

Look at the man. He's big. He's heavy.

But saying he's fat is ridiculous.

Charles Barkley is fat. Shaq is baddest mutherfucker on the planet.

Don't hate.

Appreciate him while you can. When he's gone, there will never be another like him. He's one of the greatest things to ever happen to the league, on and off the court.

I understood the hate when David was still in the league, because it's hard to respect a man who "disrespects" a man like David. You'll never hear Shaq say another demeaning word about 5-0 now that he's retired. It was just a way to get himself psyched up for his biggest rival, his toughest challenge, and his only nemesis. In his own way, he was paying Robinson the ultimate respect. In Shaq's world, only a few centers even existed. Robinson was always one of them.

But that's over now. As a rival, Shaq could never admit that he was a fan of David's. But he was. It was posturing, just mindgames. He learned psych tactics from the best, and he knew he had to use every technique he had (physical and mental) to challenge Dave. He never talked smack about Patrick Ewing, because he knew Pat had no chance against him. David was a real threat, and Shaq confirmed that through his actions and words. It wasn't personal, it was just part of the game.

San Antonio seems to hold this personal grudge against Shaq. As a fan of the league, I just can't do it. He means too much to the game. He alone represented a huge power shift between the conferences. That's impact.

When he's gone, the whole league will be looking for the "Next Shaq"...not too many players leave the game looking to replace them with a Second Coming. I can only think of one, and number two will be Shaquille O'Neal.

He's only going to be around for a few more years. Enjoy it while you can.

A so-called dominant player should not need psyche tactics, am I right?

You think Michael Jordan didn't use them? You think Bird didn't? Magic? Wilt?

I get it. He's not really one of the greatest of all time. It's just that the rest of the world (outside of San Antonio) doesn't know anything about basketball.

I understand you don't like him personally. Maybe you don't even respect his game. Fair enough. Everyone's entitled to their opinion.

But calling him fat is lame, if for no other reason than because it's not true.

But we can't let a silly thing like the truth get in the way of our hate, can we?

Look, I hate on Kobe all the time. But I only hate on his character. His game is undeniable.

Just like Shaq's impact on the game is undeniable.

I'm not trying to change any minds (I know that's pointless). I just have to give respect where it's due. In my opinion, Shaq's earned it. On and off the court. Rings, MVPs, Finals MVPs, solid citizen, best quote in the league since Barkley...he's got it all.

So don't watch the Heat this year. I'll enjoy it enough for all of us. Hell, I'll even root for them. Just like when he was with the Lakers, I wanted to go through Shaq on the way to the title. That was how you knew you earned it. That's respect.

I don't recall Jordan badmouthing other players in the league to the degree that Shaq has. And if he did, the media didn't suck his balls over it like they have Shaq's.

Shaq is a walking soundbyte. Pricks make good interviews.

I think what really hurt Spurs fans was the way Shaquille exposed David Robinson for being such a common player...

And that’s not just my opinion...The Spurs owner could not wait even until after the playoffs to diss DROB in the papers...

After that things got worse...DROB sought revenge & his greed may very well have costs the Spurs another championship...That 10 million dollar contract that he held out for chased D.A. to Portland & there went that elusive 3rd scorer...

So its not just Shaquille’s rough play that Spurs fans are mad at...it’s a bunch of things... :smokin

You need to get your facts straight..... DA left because of-length-of-the-contract issues... not it's net worth... In fact, he signed for slightly less with Portland but got that extra year he wanted.

And DRob's defense alone was worth what he got paid in his "second" contract. A telling stat was one mentioned on the FSSW coverage of the Knicks game. When was the last time someone dropped 50 on the Spurs?

Bernard King, 1984 was the last to do it....

That means no one ever scored 50 pts against DRob... ever!! I can think of at least three games (and most of them are recent) where someone dropped 50 pts on the Lakers with the supposedly dominant Shaq manning the lane (and a surplus of Kobe's tenacious perimeter 'D' :lol ). Antawn Jamison did it, Paul Pierce did it, and Allan Houston did it.

You need to check out the David vs. Shaq thread (I don't know if Kori put it on the classics) and look at the head to head boxscores between the two players (Kaster never came back to respond after seeing the evidence)... even if you factor out who was in their primes and when... you can't negate that your first statement is fundamentally flawed... David was not a common center. Period.

If that's all you have on Dave... it's weak... Now if you want to talk about greedy centers... let's see.... a certain 32 turned 34 (soon age will follow suit) personally shut the door on the opportunity to keep the Lakers in perennial title contention (all over 35 million dollars...and a personal feud with Kobe). Dave will be known as the most generous player of his generation... so greediness just doesn't apply.

(If you havent already noticed, dissing Dave is one of my hot buttons)

It looks to me like you are a new comer to the Spurs & their History...I was not the one who “called out” DROB during the Lakers series...It was Peter Holt....Maybe you should direct your anger at him...

Let’s review some facts shall we?
Robinson convinced Duncan to stay with the Spurs for less money to put team & Championships 1st... (hmmm I wonder how much money Duncan would be making if playing for Dr. Buss?)...

Derek Anderson... Came to the Spurs on the cheap with the promise that he would be rewarded with a nice contract...

What happened? Robinson got pounded by Shaquille in the playoffs....Humiliated is a better word....Then had the audacity to demand a starting centers salary...

One strike shorted season * title did not warrant this behavior...

Read for yourself...

For, right now, David Robinson is showing himself to be just like everyone else in the NBA: greedy and looking for that extra bit of leverage. Maybe it's naive on our part, but we expected more, a lot more, from him.

Sportscamper...here's the deal...FatSnaq is fat. FatSnaq is a dickhead. FatSnaq is just about the most repellent classless and dumb player to ever step foot on an NBA court. FatSnaq's dumb, unfunny, stupid, and lame attempts at humor are only witty to pre-schoolers.

These facts are more immovable than Dyan Cannon's botox inflated face. They are more reliable than Nicholson's early morning hangover. The truth they contain is thicker than the smog than hangs over the modern day Sodom and Gomorrah called LA.

Secondly...Peter May is an idiot. He obviously didn't watch the 2000-01 playoff series between LA and SA because FatSnaq wasn't the one who killed us in that series. This is typical of the negativity that was always generated towards Robinson by the big media.

Thirdly...We liked DRob better than DA, we offered DA what he wanted and he still left.

Fourthly...10 million may seem large, but that same offseason Dikembe Mutombo signed a contract for 14 mil...and he and Drob were still about the same caliber player....what's funny is that Drob held FatSnaq to his playoff lows that season while Dekemebe got buttfucked by FatSnaq in the finals and everyone talked about what a great job Deke did on FatSnaq.

Fithly...Drob had already taken substantial paycuts in earlier seasons while he was worth substantially more.

Sixthly...it was Spurfans that raised hell when the Spurs tried to lowball Drob and strongarmed the Spurs into resigning him.

Smart move by the fans...DA sucks...and our other attempted signee Webber, hasn't played a full season since...while Drob went out in style, with eternal scoreboard on your evil franchise and putting his foot up FatSnag's big ass along the way.

Here's the deal...

You champion Lakers were a repugnant unlikable bunch of punks.
FatSnaq is a big blowhard who no one really likes other than the fact that he can dunk.
Kobe is an idiot who just blew up your team and consigned them to Clipperdom for the next half decade.

We don't like FatSnaq because he's a bigmouth dumbass that says stupid stuff. That's the truth.

The truth is that Snag has been a big lazy dumb piece of crap every season since00-01.

Yes he's fat and can still offensive foul his way to 14 dunks per game...and I can see how Lakerfan, in a desperate bid for self esteem, would be willing to overlook those things...but don't ask the rest of us to do that.

You know the Magic Lakers used to beat us too...do you hear us badmouthing them?

FatSnaq...has been a lardass for much of recent history...and a dumb one...don't lose sight of the truth. If you can't handle the truth..go do what Snaq does...eat something.

He'll still be able to get away with offensive fouling his team to some success...due more to the fact that he is fat, and dumb, and unlikeable, than any basketball skill contained in his fat...and dumb...person.

Give me a break.... where is Derek Anderson now... what has he done... Had Derek stayed in San Antonio we would have never drafted Manu (who is by far my favorite player). Derek Anderson left because he didn't see eye to eye with management about the length of his contract... (again you seem to want to sidestep this issue).

And once again, you seem to sidestep the issue of a greater greedy center (your own revered Shaq-daddy). David was paid what he deserved and contributed heavily to both Spurs championships (what... in his last game -- the title game no less -- he scored 13 points on 7 shots and pulled down 17 rebounds while blocking 3 shots).

Don't be a hater if your club will end up in mediocrity this year....

If you want to believe that Daivid Robinson did not use his influence to get Tim Duncan to sign a grossly undervalued contract...Well fine...That is your prerogative...But take a look at some of the money that was being thrown around the NBA at the time...IMO...With the exception of Shaquille O’Neal...Duncan was worth far more than any of these guys...

As I said...I realize that David Robinson is more than a player to the “good people of San Antonio”...He is more of a Religion....But facts are facts...

Shaquille O'Neal $23,571,429 10-yr; 208.5M 2005-06
Scottie Pippen $19,727,524 5-yr; 67.2M 2002-03

you say that like its a bad thing. At the end of Robinson's career, when Shaq was in his prime, he was way better than Robinson. But to say that Robinson was a "common player" is ignorant. The guy had a hall of fame career...something all the "experts" are also saying.

whottt
11-21-2004, 12:12 PM
I think you are right...I also think he is ignorant of the contracts centers were signing in the 01 off season. Mutombo signed a deal for 14 million per season....he wasn't that much better than Drob...who got better value out of those deals? The teams that had Mutombo on that contract, or the Spurs?

And I think he is ignorant of the fact that Drob tore up a contract guranteeing he be paid an average of the top 3 salaries in the NBA....while he was still an MVP caliber player.

Say what you want about Drob but Drob was still good enough to be the second best player and defensive anchor on an NBA champion in his last season, at the age of 38, with a back condition that sometimes left him without feeling in his legs...he was still the guy his team depended on the most to defend Shaq...even at the age of 38..That was worth 10 million.

Never listen to Laker fan on these issues...LakerFan is still bitter that Drob told his glorious franchise to go screw itself back in 88...This LakerFan probably hasn't seen Drob play in but about 30 games...and he relies on the dumbass highly biased media at ESPN to form his opinions.
