Went out to my families' land in Real county for some maintenance and to maybe get rid of a couple of Feral Hogs. Took a bunch of pics while I was up there... here's a few.

Feral Hogs :pctoss They pretty much just destroy the land and make a mess of things... 1 maybe 2 of them made this their home... but you mainly would hear them at night.

Something about water and caves that just don't mix with me... I refuse to swim in this particular water hole. Plus, the water looks about 10 feet deep... but it's more like 20... no thanks.

The place is over 30 years old... so it's starting to fall apart a bit... My father and I were replacing the deck. It's starting to warm up, so snakes are starting to get active around this time... My dad said "Watch out for that rattler!" a few minutes after the pic was taken... I jumped outta there in about 1/2 a second.

well... it's tucked away pretty good in a valley, so i'm not sure exactly how far away it is from Leakey... but the entrance to access the land is about 20-30 minutes north or northwest of Leakey.

fresh hill country water ... the water in this particular pond is pretty damn cold... you have to go a bit downstream before it gets warm enough to swim in comfortably. In the summer it's fine though.

They cleared this hillside to get power up to some people who just built a cabin on the other side of the hill. It's a bitch to climb but it's a pretty good workout.

Very nice place! Everyone should be lucky enough to have a place to go out and shoot guns. Kids don't get to do that much anymore. Our friends have about 40 acres near Karnes City, and all our kids just have a blast shooting skeet, exploring with their BB guns, target shooting. They've all had safety instruction; it's just good, clean fun.

thanks for all the compliments... it lets me appreciate what i have and not take it for granted. I inherit that land once my father dies (which i hope is a looooooooong time from now) and i hope to maintain it as well as my father and my grandfather have before me.

that deer was so damn lucky it wasn't in season. i had my rifle right next to me and i was watching it through the scope for at least 3 minutes. she was the true lucky bastard... deer jerky and sausage is fucking goooood... especially when you take it to dziuks up in castroville :hungry:

the venison/pork sausage country slaughterhouse outside of victoria makes is incredible. my dad has been taking his kills there for years, i have a deep freeze full of it. :hungry:

It must be nice having all that land, a place to kick back and relax and release yourself from the real world. It's pretty popular in Argentina for people who have money to have land like that. My cousins own a lot of land in northern Argentina, in Formosa. Hot as hell there, but they have trucks they take and drive around the dirt roads...there's a whole bunch of shit they find there like snakes, tarantulas, cayman (spelling?), etc. My other cousins have land in Patagonia, southern Argentina. My uncle likes to hike a hell of a lot there by himself. He always takes a gun with him because there's a bunch of pumas in that region that'll fuck up a human.
